Huge thanks to Tom for an excellent and informative tour specifically tuned to car enthusiasts. My wife and I find this to be a Detroit must-do. See extremely rare Ford motor coaches and the room the Model T was conceived.

One of the absolute best historical venues I've ever been to, and one of the best historical tours I've ever been on. Everything about this place is top notch. And WOW! What a car collection! We'll be back!

I fly to Iceland via Detroit. I decided to stay in Detroit and sightsee. There are some awesome things in Detroit. The Henry Ford Museum, Fisher Building, and Ford Piquette Avenue Plant. This is Henry Ford's original factory.

Outstanding. This place is a gem. We took a tour and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Learned so much. We aren't particularly car buffs, but we found the two hour tour fun and fascinating.

Had a great time here. It was only $5 with the student discount, so it was great for my friend and I. When we were here, we joined one of the guided tours too. Our guide was Mike and he was wonderful. He was super informative and the tour was filled with fun anecdotes that he had. I feel like he knew every single fun fact about Ford.
This was where the original model T was conceived and produced. Some of its predecessors were also made here. There are multiple models A, B, C...T that were all made here. They also had them on display, and there are even a couple that they let you sit in. Beautiful original plant. You can see the original factory sprinkler system and elevators. Super cool experience, definitely worth seeing.
There's a parking lot for you and it's free. There's also a cute gift shop, where if you buy postcards they will mail it for you! - Larry B.Agoura Hills, CA323911/17/2019
This place is a gem ...
I had a wonderful time exploring the terrific cars and feeling part of the early Ford mystique. Climbing the stairs to the upper floors that Henry Ford and his crew of brilliant engineers used daily. The windows that illuminated the cars as they were assembled. This was truly a wonderful day for me.
I recommend this museum and place of history to all. Take photos ... enjoy. - Mary O.San Ramon, CA6141055/24/2017
This was one of the highlights to my family's Detroit trip. Such a cool experience. Thankfully you don't need much time to get through, maybe an hour or two at most. The staff here is friendly and helpful.
Parking is okay though the markings are a little ambiguous as to what is designated for what since there is a business that shares the lot.
One recommendation is to arrive when they are doing a tour, we just missed one and I think they are free but don't quote me on that. But from what heard the guy seemed to have a lot of knowledge that wasn't posted in the info blurbs we were reading.
It's pretty wild to see the history in the plant they restored Henry Ford's office which was really interesting.
There are a ton of historic cars detailing the failures and successes Ford had before and after the model T. There were some really cool cars including a 2005 Ford GT.
The surrounding areas are in a pretty derelict state, there is an abandoned Ford factory just down the street, and an entire block of abandoned houses that just shows Detroit still has a long way to go. But I wouldn't let that deter you from visiting we felt safe the whole time and parking is behind a gate so there shouldnt be any issues. - David J.NM, NM104468/9/2019
This was a fun and interesting stop in our Detroit adventure. It definitely had the authenticity thing going, and the cars were interesting to see. Also, parking was easy (being a car manufacturer, I hope that would be a given). I'd highly recommend the tour, as it adds a bit more context and flavor to the experience.
The only reason I avoided 5 stars was because
it was lacking in clear context. This factory comprises roughly 8 years in Ford's journey to industrial superstardom. It includes some of Model T production and predates the assembly line. This narrative is not clearly stated and takes a bit of reading to place where it lies in Ford's history as it's a lesser known time in his life. Also, the factory was used later and that's harder to grasp as well - confusing the issue. A clear explanation of this would help to place this factory in historical context when visiting.
All in all, it's a nice little gem in Ford and industrial history. It adds color to a remarkable story and a very interesting time in US. I highly recommend. - Joe M.Grand Blanc, MI14849/29/2021
Great tour with lots of history and quite a few cars to look at too. Highly recommend for folks interested in cars and automotive history.
