Taka Boom (born Yvonne Stevens on October 8, 1954) is a singer from Chicago, IL whose stage name came from a combination of a conferred Yoruba name Taka, and the nickname of her then-husband, saxophonist John “Boom” Brumbach who also worked in construction.
Taka Boom released three proper albums in her solo career: her disco-dominated debut Taka Boom (1979), the hard-to-find Boomerang (1983), and finally, a sheened, dance-pop set titled Middle of the Night (1985).
