Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 60th Match

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's it from game 60 of IPL 2023. RCB have done themselves a huge favour. They are into the positive as far as the NRR is concerned. RR have slipped a few places on the table. Remember the 49 that comes up every time RCB has a collapse. RR will have a similar story to tell after this. Both teams needed a win. RCB were the hungrier one it seems. The next game is between KKR and CSK. A win for KKR will again make for an interesting table. But CSK will qualify if they win. Every game is an event. Every ball from here on counts. Don't dare to move much. Hop tabs and follow the next game. This is our team of Saurabh, Nikhil, Kumar and Venky bidding you bye bye.
Wayne Parnell, Player of the Match: Obviously, credit to our batters. The last over gave us momentum. We could execute well. The message was to take pace off the ball. Bowl it at the sticks. We were able to execute everything. The surface was low, slow and skiddy. Was trying to make them play across the line. When I wasn't playing, I was preparing. It is a long tournament and you need to be switched on every game.
Faf du Plessis: Really good for our NRR. Tough pitch. We batted first and assessed the conditions. We batted in the powerplay and thought 160 will be a good score. We have had a good set up till the 15th over. But we managed to capitalize on the momentum shift at the end. Great job. Bracewell would want to bowl on this every day of the week. We needed a left-arm spinner. May be Shahbaz could have been an option. Wrist spin could have been an attacking option. Hopefully, we can set it up for the last game at the Chinnaswamy. Today was a good one for the team. They needed this confidence to go into the last two games.
Bracewell: It was nice to get those two points, very valuable in the competition. Was nice to contribute in the win. We have a great support staff at RCB, just feel a part of it (even when you are not playing matches). It was a difficult wicket to get going. The way he (Rawat) batted, he gave us a lot of momentum going into the second innings. A lot of credit goes to the top three batters who set the tone for us. I got a little lucky today, that's the nature of T20 cricket. I try and not get caught up with the highs and lows of the game. There were a couple of niggles in the squad, so the others got a chance. There are two must-win games for us, as a group we strive under this pressure. We were fortunate enough to get those two points, now looking forward to the next games.
Sanju Samson: I think our top three were scoring a lot of runs, we go hard in the powerplay but it didn’t come out today. I think it's too soon to analyze or dissect the game. You need to go hard in the powerplay knowing the ball was getting slower and older, that’s the way me, Jaiswal and Jos have played throughout. Credit to the RCB bowlers for their energy and intensity. I think this was a target that could have gone to the wire, I expected a tight match if we had a decent powerplay. I was just thinking seeing the batting collapse where we went wrong? I don't think I have an answer to that yet. We all know the nature of the IPL, we’ve seen some funny things happen in the league stage. We have to keep strong, take a day off and think about the game in Dharamshala. I think we need to end on a strong note. We have to take responsibility on the whole as a team for this performance.
18:23 Local Time, 12:53 GMT, 18:23 IST: RCB pocket this game by 112 runs. This is a massive win. This would cause some tectonic shifts for RR and RCB's chances for the top four slot. Who would have thought that RR will capiluate in this meek manner? 59 all-out will haunt them for a long time to come. Siraj picked the huge wicket of Jaiswal to start the derailment. Then Parnell came into the scene. There were question marks over his inclusion at the expense of Hasaranga. But has he delivered?! Three wickets in three overs might just have shown exit doors to RR. RCB stay alive. RR had been depending on their top-order. But it didn't score much today. Hetmyer swung hard and got a quick-fire 35. But that was miles away from what was needed. Last five games RR have lost four of them. From being one of the pre-tournament favorites, they might well be knocked out. That's the magic of IPL...

Karn Sharma to KM Asif, out Caught by Kohli!! The ghosts of 49 might have been exorcised a little today. Was a tossed up delivery, KM Asif went for the big heave down the ground and had Kohli waiting under the ball. Was an easy catch. Well tossed up, KM Asif slammed it but didn't time it. RR have been shunted out for 59. RCB win this by 112 runs.KM Asif c Kohli b Karn Sharma 0(2)

Karn Sharma to Zampa, out Bowled!! That was a quickish googly. The batter for some strange reasons wanted to reverse lap it and missed it. The ball thudded into the sticks. Ninth one down. Karn was decimated by Hetmyer in the previous over but a poor shot has allowed him to get a wicket. RCB would be so happy with this effort. Zampa b Karn Sharma 2(6)

RR's worst nightmares have turned true. RCB have been superb with the ball. But some loose batting has also helped RCB's cause.

Maxwell to Hetmyer, out Caught by M Bracewell!! Gone! That should be it. RCB now would wait for the margin of the victory. That was a tossed up delivery, Hetmyer went for the slog sweep but failed to beat the man at long-on. Simple take for the fielder. RR lose number 8. RCB are elated. They have annihilated RR so far. 171 didn't look that great but they have bounced back superbly with the ball. Hetmyer c M Bracewell b Maxwell 35(19) [4s-1 6s-4]
