Discover Named Locations
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 launched with a brand new map for the first time in Fortnite history. The first New World challenge is all about discovering the new Named Locations in the world. While there are 13 different Named Locations, players will only need to visit ten of them, initially marked by question marks on the map, to complete this challenge.
Unlike previous Seasons, the map won't be filled out for you. You'll need to visit different locations on the map and discover them yourself. After your first visit to a location, the map will be filled in for the remainder of Season 1.
Discover Landmarks
Similar to the Named Location challenge, players will need to visit ten different landmarks on the map. These are the gray locations on your map that appear between the Named Locations. This is something that will be completed naturally when you're playing, so don't stress over it.
The only thing to note here is that simply entering the gray area will not discover the landmark. You'll need to look for a main building or feature within the gray area to visit, upon arrival you'll discover the landmark and will be well on your way to completing this Fortnite New World challenge.
Ride a Motorboat in different matches
One of the many new additions to Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 are motorboats. As you have probably learned by now, there are tons of lakes, rivers, and streams throughout the new world. To help you navigate the new area, Epic has given players access to boats.
For this New World challenge, you'll have to get on a motorboat in three different matches.
Thankfully, it won't be hard to find motorboat locations. Typically, you can find one or two at any building or dock located along the water.
Search chests at Sweaty Sands or Retail Row
This Fortnite New World challenge isn't typically one that would need explaining, but since there is a new map, with new locations, we thought it'd be good to show you the exact locations of Sweaty Sands and Retail Row in Fortnite.
Thankfully, both are easy to find if you have the locations unlocked on your map. However, if you don't, you're not going to know where to go.
Sweaty Sands is in northwest portion of the map. While Retail Row, which you'll likely recognize from previous Seasons, is located in the southeast portion of the map. You can see an arrow pointing to both locations in the image above.
Catch a weapon using a Fishing Rod
One of the many changes in Fortnite Chapter 2 is the addition of fishing. That's right, you can now pick up a fishing rod and go fishing for all kinds of hidden treasures. For this specific New World challenge, you'll need to catch a weapon using a fishing rod.
The hardest part of this challenge is going to be finding a fishing rod, as fishing itself is pretty simple. Typically, you'll be able to find a fishing rod on a dock close to water. However, they can also be found as floor loot.
Once you have a fishing rod, you'll need to find a fishing hole to complete this New World challenge. Fish are located in the white circular areas within ponds, lakes, and streams. You can see what we are talking about in the image above. Thankfully there are a lot of them and they're hard to miss.
You'll want to cast your rod into the the water using the same button/trigger you would to shoot, using the blue line that appears on screen to aim. Once you feel a tug, press the button/trigger again, and you'll reel in your catch. You may have to try a few times to catch a weapon, but it shouldn't take long.
Carry a Knocked player 10m
Unlike previous Seasons, in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1, when a teammate goes down, they will no longer be forced to crawl to safety. In Duos and Squads (not Team Rumble), if a teammate goes down, you can pick them up and carry them to a safe place before you revive them.
For this specific Fortnite New World challenge, you'll need to carry a knocked player 10m, which isn't very far. To carry a knocked player, you simply need to run up to them and select "carry" instead of "revive." From there, you can pick them up, throwing them over your shoulder, and take them to a safe place to revive them.
The easiest way to complete this challenge is going to be with a friend that is trying to complete the same challenge. Hop into a game together and land at a desolate location. One of you will need to down yourself by jumping off something high, and then the other teammate can carry you 10m and revive you. From there, you can swap with your teammate so you'll both be able to complete this challenge and move on to the mission objective.
The final New World challenge in Fortnite will require players to find the hidden F location somewhere in the new world. Thankfully, it won't be hard to find because we are going to show you the exact location.
You'll want to head to the hilltop just east of Lazy Lake, where you'll find the glowing F, as long as you've unlocked the challenge. You can see the exact Fortnite hidden F location in the map above.
As you approach the location, you'll want to look for the glowing F sitting next to a rock and a tree, which you can see in the image above. It will be pretty hard to miss, as it is a big glowing letter.
