Ava Duvernay did more to change Hollywood in generations than any other event, when she ensured all episodes of QUEEN SUGAR were directed by women.

Ava DuVernay made the decision to ensure that women directed the entire 88-episode @OWNTV series, which led to over three dozen women having the opportunity to direct, 39 of whom were first-time scripted television directors. #InternationalWomensDay bit.ly/3bPOvu6

@DeManeDavis is a part of the @DuVernay dynasty & has worked in @Shondaland. She’s “constantly working, constantly writing & thinking about things I’m going to create to try to show people themselves so they feel seen & heard & try to involve people that I haven’t seen involved.”

I admire Senator John Fetterman for openly seeking treatment for depression at Walter Reed. Back in 2010, I was hospitalized for depression. I would not be alive, let alone in Congress, were it not for mental health care. Millions of Americans are rooting for you, Senator.

"So the question we need to ask is why is it so hard to relate to the work of your Black peers? What is this inability of Academy voters to see Black Women & their humanity & their heroism as relatable to themselves?" A MUST READ/LISTEN #TheWomanKing

My hot take is that most of us have not adequately processed the trauma of the pandemic. And our sprawling, unprocessed trauma chews away at our brains in myriad ways that make us anxious about why we can’t seem to live our lives as instinctively or as joyously as we did in 2019.

Choosing to remember #TyreNichols as the vibrant young father and avid skateboarder destined for greatness. I refuse to watch another video of a Black man dying. Holding up his spirit and praying for Tyre’s family. We demand and expect justice.

This is so spot on: “Black women are often stereotyped as aggressive, loud and unprofessional. They’re critiqued for their hair, nails and fashion. They’re hypersexualized. They’re less likely to be hired, and even less likely to be promoted.”

Following yesterday’s Academy Award nominations, for @latimes, I wrote about how it’s not just the Academy failing Black women, it’s the entire awards ecosystem. latimes.com/entertainment-
