The T8000's owner's manual says " Power consumption: 95W/Max. 58W (without optional slot)". So it's only 95W if the add-in slot is populated and enabled, and Stax has never released anything for that slot (in the 8 years since it was released), so the point is moot. Also, the T8000 is a hybrid, it uses 6922 tubes for voltage gain with a solid-state output stage.
I've been vaguely interested in the T8000 for a bit; I know it's not the best use of money when the BHSE exists, but I've heard of people who like it more than the BHSE for the X9000 specifically. I know of another user here who uses the X9000 + T8000 combo with an Esoteric N-05XD streamer/DAC, and the idea of a high-end all-Japanese audio chain is one of those odd ideas I kick around in my head.
