What is this series about and should I read it?

Question

I've gotten this on my YT recommendation and have heard it's similar to Omniscient Reader.

if u love reading, this is for you~

astonishing World building and very unique powersytem

it's a story about a guy who got isekaied into a World set in a Victorian era with steampunk theme (a bit advanced thanks to some senior) , there are kingdoms and gods having their respective churches and jurisdiction, now the mc 'ke lai en' is on journey to find reasons for his transmigration and finding the way back , he must uncover truths of this world but they are very unsettling...

I heavily suggest to not see anything related to lotm before completing book 1 as it is about mysteries and there's no point in reading after getting spoiled, here the readers discover the secrets of the world alongside with the mc and nothing is spoonfed, brain is required as many times things get complicated only to be fully make sense later on.

remember ~“There are some things that make it easier to be ‘infected’ the more you know.”

so stay away from spoilers and "PRAISE THE FOOL". 🗣️🔥🖊️❣️🤝

Yeah, second this, try yourself with the first volume without getting spoiled, and if you like it, the consens is that it just gets better after.

Little addition, the series has:

  • a cool and complex combat system, quite a breeze of fresh air

  • no filler episodes in over 2200 chapters (Book 1 and 2), so get ready for complex storytelling

  • a dark undertone. This is a world inspired by the SCP universe and Lovecraft, so get ready for a setting that does not guarantee happy endings

  • quite a few great plot twists so STAY AWAY FROM SPOILERS

  • lots of different factions with different goals that drive the story quite organically

As mentioned above, you view the story mostly through the eyes of the main character eho knows shit about nothing. So there will inevitably be stuff where you think "why does that happen" and you will learn the answer later, just as the main character does. So you will need a bit of patience and careful reading also does not hurt. If you like stories that pay attention to details, this is one of them. Small coincidences may sometimes lead to unforeseen developments

If you ask for my personal opinion: Great read, wish i could relive the experience of my first Readthrough

The Art of faking it

We have:

Sexy tree

Bipolar personified

Best Boi

Dawg

Religion

And ofc no harem, or bs romance. And top their world building.

What more can one want?

I am so glad the book didn't have a harem

Yo, I wanna hear how this came up on your YouTube recommendation? And 100% you should read it. It’ll change everything 😀

As someone who’s towards the end of the first book.

It’s amazing and if you choose not to read this I will find you and force you to read it

Steampunk, gothic, cosmic horror. If you like Bloodborne, you will like this. One of the main characters is even named Gehrman! And I’m pretty sure Sharron is an homage to the doll.

In terms of pacing, it’s non stop. You’d think a web novel with 1400 chapters would be slow and sputtering, but it is hectic with mysteries layered on mysteries. It lives up to its name. For tone, it’s horror but early Victorian. Think that time early industrial age when people were into occult stuff, but the occult stuff is real.

Power system is very unique as well. Even at low levels you can do some broken stuff. Everyone is broken.

As someone who has read both books, I won't say LOTM is similar to ORV. But they do both have a high-quality plot and world-building.
It is a very good read and I highly suggest you take your time to read through because if you end up enjoying it you are going to be so annoyed at how fast you finished it.
Just stay away from spoilers, you shouldn't even be on this Reddit page asking us😂
