Things to do
Lido di Jesolo holidays offer all kinds of fun, whether you’re into amusement parks, architecture or just hanging out at the beach. Read on for the best destinations in Lido di Jesolo.
- The beach is the main attraction in Lido di Jesolo. There’s a long golden coastline with beaches ranging from bustling to secluded. You’re sure to find your own little patch of paradise.
- For a dose of culture, the sights of Venice are a short boat ride across the lagoon. Exploring the canals, Renaissance palaces and resplendent city squares will be the highlight of your trip.
- For a break from the sands, head inland to Jesolo old town. It has wonderful old buildings that recall the grandeur of Renaissance Italy. Particularly stunning is the Piazza Mazzini.
- If you're in town on Friday, head to Piazza Kennedy for the local farmers market. Vendors descend from their countryside homes to sell fresh cheeses, meats and other produce. It’s perfect for sorting out a beach picnic.
- Family fun is Lido di Jesolo’s middle name. Check out Aqualandia water park, the New Jesolandia fairground and the Pista Azzurra go-kart track.
History and culture in Lido di Jesolo
Nearby Venice is overflowing with cultural wonders, but you’ll find some local gems on your Lido di Jesolo holiday, too.
- For a dose of local history visit the Museo Storico Militare. This museum charts the area’s military history from World War I to the present day. It includes relics from the British, American, Italian and Russian forces.
- The mosaics of Jesolo were rescued from an ancient Christian Church. They date to the 6th century CE and are on display in the Piazza Brescia, next to the tourist information office.
- Venice’s showpiece is the Piazza San Marco. This grand square is an apt reminder of the city’s powerful past and is flanked by two of its best attractions: the Basilica di San Marco and the Doge’s Palace.
- The Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice is an artistic superstar. It contains a multitude of Venetian art from covering 600 years. Highlights include Giorgione’s The Storm and Titian’s Presentation of the Virgin.
- For insight into Jewish history visit the Ghetto, the designated Jewish quarter of Venice from the 16th to 19th century. Most poignant is a memorial to the more than 200 Venetian Jews who were killed in concentration camps in World War II.
