TerraPower LLC, an advanced nuclear company backed by billionaire <-bsp-person state="{"_id":"00000189-646f-d364-a7eb-7eef0e6d0000","_type":"00000160-6f41-dae1-adf0-6ff519590003"}">Bill Gates-bsp-person>, is working with Centrus Energy Corp. to develop a new type of fuel it will need to power its proposed reactor.
The companies have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing production capacity for high-assay, low-enriched uranium (HALEU) fuel by 2030, when TerraPower expects to need it, according to a <-bsp-bb-link state="{"bbDocId":"RXXSJ2TP3SHS","_id":"00000189-646f-d364-a7eb-7eef0e6e0000","_type":"0000016b-944a-dc2b-ab6b-d57ba1cc0000"}">statement-bsp-bb-link> Monday.
