Mt. Lebanon Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.99 out of 5 404 reviews
Overall, I enjoyed my high school experience despite spending 2 years learning online. I participated in a sport that was rigorous and demanding of my time, so fitting in other activities was challenging. However, I managed to complete 4 yrs in the program, maintain a part-time job, and focusing on academics. There were a lot of clubs, but many seemed like checkbox for a resume and not very serious. Choosing to participate in multiple activities such as, band, dance, sports, theater is difficult and many students tend to focus on one they are passionate about. This can help create success in that area, however, it can prevent you from exploring other opportunities/interests to create a more well-rounded experience.
I'm in this building everyday. It's decorated with school spirit, famous/empowering quotes, and other positive aspects I can look to. It's very clear Mt. Lebanon takes pride in all the students that have attended, which makes the grand school feel safe, welcoming, and home-like. Although those attributes are very much preferred at a public high school, Mt. Lebanon still has many ways to improve. As a current sophomore, I feel as though Mt. Lebanon High School doesn't encourage their students enough to think about their future. They don't talk about scholarships, summer programs, or volunteering opportunities unless the student looks in to it first. They have one meeting a year to briefly brush over the topic of a students future (usually not with their parent either). I'd like to see this school strive to encourage students to think about their future and make it exciting. One way they could do this is promoting certain classes that appeal to the student's interests.
My experience at Mount Lebanon Senior High School was nothing short of mixed. There are many characteristics about the academic establishment that I do in fact fancy. However, there are many areas in which I am skeptical. First off, the positives. The athletic programs at this school are top of the notch. Although, the football team is one to be wary of, The basketball team, on the other hand, is rising in skill with top-of-the-notch players taking the court by storm such as #2 himself. In addition, the food at MTLSH is remarkable. The ultimate chicken located in the back end of the cafeteria is to die for. Many also enjoy the Metro Deli and the constantly rotating cuisine line. Now to start with the negatives. The constant threats targeted towards the school may leave students feeling a sense of worry or agitation. In addition, the long strenuous walks up and down the B-building may leave students feeling fatigued towards the end of the day. Struggling to keep up academically.
