I had totally missed this series when it first aired decades ago. Only found out about it after watching the Road to Avonlea series on DVD, which was fabulous. Wind At My Back is every bit as well done, though set in a different era, the Great Depression. Lots of colorful characters: ones you love and ones you love to hate. The series ended a little abruptly, but still worth it. You can get a DVD, a Christmas episode, that wraps up a few loose ends, but you're still left wishing you knew what happened. All in all, it's clean, quality family entertainment that can be enjoyed over and over.

The DVD series was excellent and is advertised as "The Complete Series Collection."  However, it is so incredibly irresponsible not to inform the buyer that the filming of the series was never completed. An online search reveals that the production was cancelled abruptly and the subsequent season of filming did not happen. After more than 65 hours of viewing, the story just stops and you have no idea how it ends.  It's like reading a book only to find that the last chapters have been torn out of it.

Happily you can purchase an additional DVD  - "A Wind at my Back  Christmas" that ties up the loose ends.
