Ann-Margret and the Swingin' 60s
I was sixteen when "The Swinger" was released in November 1966. I was a big fan of the film and immediately bought the soundtrack LP, which I played to death. Unfortunately the album was badly damaged when I was in college and I've been without it until now. And what a pleasant surprise when I got the CD today, it also contains the entire soundtrack from Ann-Margret's 1965 film "The Pleasure Seekers". The soundtrack for "The Swinger" has a good pedigree, with the title song having been written by Dory and Andre Previn and the score by Marty Paich. And added to the soundtrack music (just like on the original LP) are 2 songs, "More" and "That Old Black Magic", both performed by Ann-Margret. "The Pleasure Seekers" soundtrack features Ann-Margret singing four songs written for the film by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Hausen, as well as instrumental tracks featuring an orchestra conducted Lionel Newman. Both soundtracks were out of print or many years, so to get them both on one CD is sweet. And the CD comes with a really nice color illustrated booklet that includes a history of Ann-Margret's career, photos of her from both films and a few other films, and details of each soundtrack. Buy this one quick while it's still in print.
