As any HR role goes - sometimes the work can be tiresome & thankless

Pros
Great work experience working with student with special needs Easy hiring process and opportunities to work at multiple locations Enjoyable to work with preschool age children if that’s what you’re looking for
Cons
Frequent short staffing issues Challenging student behaviors Lack of support and clear information from HR

Pros
They were some of the best people I could have ever worked for! Very understanding and helpful. Everyone was really helpful. The job itself was very rewarding. Staff days were always great training opportunities. The pay was reasonable and benefits were an option for full time staff.
Cons
It can sometimes be difficult working with small children, especially those who have developmental and behavioral delays. The rewards though always outweighed the negatives. Helping a small child reach a milestone was always the best. The only downside was that there are many things out of our control that effected the children and that was always difficult to watch.

Pros
- Awesome, amazing kids and families and lots of really truly caring, hard working, dedicated & competent teachers and OTs - Excellent services provided by the frontline workers (teachers, TAs, ORs and Music therapists specifically)
Cons
- Degrading pay for TAs - Extremely poor pay for teachers - So, so benefits - No union, therefore not much of a voice for teachers - although suggestions , concerns and complaints may be listened to, very little to nothing is done to rectify the wrongs and ensure any real equity amongst staff - Hardly any representation in teaching staff - or any staff- of Black and Brown people. - Glaringly white in terms of employees, teachers (are there any Black teachers? Even one?) - Staff (including teachers) is NOT representative of the children and families Beginnings serves - Grosse discrepancies across the board in teacher pay - Unethical inequities in pay scales for all positions - No transparency regarding unethical, unfair salary discrepancies for teachers - New teachers (new therapists, OT, PT, etc) may very well be paid significantly more that teachers who have dedicated years to CDBeginnings. - Decreased staff morale due to pay inequities/discrepancies and uneven caseloads - Lack of salary transparency overall - makes it even more obvious that pay scales are unfair - Poor retirement system and poor financial outcomes for retirees - No compensation for teachers assigned to mentor new teachers - No compensation for committee work - Zero support from admin during massive agency wide teacher and direct care employee lay off - Not a penny of financial support offered or given by CDBeginnings...not even a $25 gift card to Price Chopper to keep is afloat.

Pros
The job was a learning experience. You interact with children with special needs and typical functioning abilities. The children were great, you get to teach them new skills and see how they adapt and grow to learn new things.
Cons
The main office could communicate better with the staff. Emails would often go unanswered for days.

Pros
The children were great and kind and even when there were challenges in the classroom, my team was very supportive and the families of the children we worked with were supportive.
Cons
Not all teachers and teaching assistants got along. The main issue was with the home office. It took forever to get any questions answered and you don't really feel part of a community except for the people in your classroom.

Pros
Working with children, very care driven, and with talented Special Ed teachers, hours and on a school schedule
Cons
Too physical/ degrading pay ( running after children, getting hit, bite, scratched, kicked, cursed at etc. ) no growth, very stressful and exhausting, misplaced children that need more support or self contained rooms are pushed into integrated, Easily burned out and little care from Directors about pay, considering all that the teacher aides do, TA subs get paid a lot more but not necessarily having more experience, high turn around, complaining therapists, very sad should be appreciated more especially going in person during covid

Pros
Working with kids. Flexible schedule.
Cons
Depends on your team and the school site that you work at. It takes a good support team of teachers and assistants to all get a long with each other while dealing with some kids that can have behavior issues.
