Dane Jeffrey Cook (March 18, 1972) is an American stand-up comedian and actor. Dane Cook was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and grew up in Arlington Massachusetts where he also went to high school. When in high school Dane Cook has said he was quiet and shy at first until he started doing stand-up comedy and acting. He didn't immediately follow through on his passion for stand-up however, studying graphic design in college as a backup plan in case his stand-up career wouldn't be successful. Dane Cook started his stand-up comedy career around 1990 when he began performing in stand-up comedy clubs in the Boston area. Four years later, he moved to New York City where he lived and performed for two years before finally moving to Los Angeles where he currently lives. He had his first TV appearance when he performed on Comedy Central's Premium Blend in 1998 which led to him gaining more widespread recognition. Dane Cook released his first stand-up comedy album in 2003, called Harmful if Swallowed. After the success of his first special, he released multiple other specials with both Comedy Central and HBO. Aside from his career as a stand-up comedian, Cook has also worked as an actor and voice actor on movies like Good Luck Chuck, Employee of the Month, and Planes.
