Apex Legends:Upheaval Patch Notes
The Apex Legends: Upheaval Season update has arrived, and brings with it a Solos Takeover, the new Legend Alter, Apex Artifacts, and a map update to Broken Moon.
This page acts as a comprehensive breakdown of the Upheaval update for Apex Legends, including its a link to the full Patch Notes.
Takeover: Solos
This variant of Solos is replacing Duos from the beginning of the season. With pre-kitted weapons and attachments, auto heal and Second Chance enabled, and the ability to use Battle Sense to locate nearby enemies.
The Solos Takeover runs from May 7th, 2024 to June 24th, 2024.
New Legend - Alter
The new Legend Alter is the latest Skirmisher to be added to the game, and has ethereal abilities that let her do incredibly unique things. Her abilities are as follows:
Passive: Gift From The Rift
Alter can see and remotely interact with nearby death boxes to claim a single item. While she cannot take shield cores through the void, any other prize can be snatched from afar
Tactical: Void Passage
Alter fires a void blast from her tail that shatters against a surface to open a dimensional gateway through from one side to the other for a short time. Crossing through the portal is instantaneous, and can be done from either direction, but travelers will remain phased briefly after exiting.
The angle of this shot determines what surface the exit will open on and can be used to open passages through ceilings and ledges, allowing Alter to place her passages creatively through the environment
Ultimate: Void Nexus
Alter can deploy a Void Nexus that allies can remotely interact with to open a phase tunnel back to that point. When a tunnel is opened, that player will phase walk from their location to the Void Nexus and leave behind a portal that any player can follow through. The Nexus can be used even while downed, and it is an incredible way for Alter and her squad to regroup to a position of power for a reset.
Alter Upgrades
Alter's Level 2 and Level 3 upgrade options are as follows:
Level 2 Upgrade Options | |
---|---|
Ultimate Cooldown | Reduces Ultimate cooldown by 30s |
Void Vision | Extend highlights and see health bars after exiting Tactical |
Level 3 Upgrade Options | |
Eternal Nexus | Void Nexus no longer times out |
Tactical Cooldown+ | Reduces Tactical cooldown by 10s |
Apex Artifacts
Apex Artifacts are the all-new Mythic Melee cosmetic that can be wielded by any Legend. The first of which was the Cobalt Katar, which could be acquired through Shadow Society Event Packs. Starting with Upheaval, the Katar Base item will be available in the Mythic Shop, and can also appear in Milestone events. Upgrades can then be applied in the following categories:
- Bases
- Themes
- Power Sources
- Activation Emotes
- Death Boxes
All of these upgrades can be mixed and matched for over 200 different design combination options, letting you make your Katar wholly unique to you! If you unlocked the Shadow Katar during the Shadow Society event, you'll automatically receive the following upon Upheaval's launch:
- Cobalt Katar Base
- Cobalt Katar Theme
- Cobalt Katar Power Source
- Cobalt Katar Activation Emote
Chase Variant: Nitride
After collecting all 5 variants of an upgrade component, you will automatically unlock the Nitride variant of that piece.
Exotic Shards
Exotic Shards are a new currency that can be bought like Apex Coins, and a small amount (10 in the Upheaval season) can be earned in future events and Battle Passes. You can use Exotic Shards to collect each upgrade component.
Map Update: Broken Moon
Broken Moon is receiving a large overhaul, with the Hope colony now adrift in space between two planets. As a result, several POI's have been warped.
Quarantine Zone
Quarantine Zone replaces the intersection between Promenade East and West. Intended to make the POI fast and frenetic, the center of the map has been condensed and made rotation paths more predictable.
Breaker Wharf
Breaker Wharf has now taken the position of the Backup Atmostation. This change occured in order to bring gameplay and playstyle variety on this side of the map.
Space Port
Space Port is a smaller POI that fills the gap where Breaker Wharf used to be. This ensures action stays in this section of the map, and is a worthwhile drop spot for looting if your team can secure it.
Cliff Side
Cliff Side is positioned between the Quarantine Zone and Stasis Array POI's, and acts as another smaller POI that allows for firefights between high and low-ground positions. Its placement is also a good spot to plan your next rotation from.
Solar Pods
Using the new Lunar Buildings, Solar Pods bridges the gap between Foundry and Cultivation. By doing so, it speeds up the pacing of the map as a whole.
Underpass
Yet another small POI, this is a quieter drop for teams not looking to get into firefights immediately.
Experimental Labs
Experimental Labs is expanded out from a pre-existing camp, offering a less desirable drop location in exchange for increased loot.
