the live album is certainly a head scratcher........nary a single hit on it?

"Following the sudden death of co-founder Malcolm Hale in 1968, Spanky and Our Gang had stopped publishing albums after having completed three albums for Mercury Records and a Greatest Hits LP. However, such was the demand for further product from this popular act, that Mercury released Spanky & Our Gang Live in December 1970. Recorded in early 1967, the album represents the group performing to an enthusiastic audience at the Gaslight Club South in Coconut Grove, Florida. Prepared from a good quality amateur recording of one of the group's earliest shows after being signed in 1966, it showcased their early sound before they became recording artists."

 

Seriously...I have the three studio LPs but hadn't heard about the live one.

 

Anyway, I think ANYTHING YOU CHOOSE and LIKE TO GET TO KNOW YOU are absolute classics - and so is the Real Gone Music USA release of the Mono Singles collection.

 

Don't confuse this release with the one by "Classics France" released in June of 2023. It's the same four albums on two cds with a very similar cover. I bought that one and it sounds like poorly recorded needledrops.

 

Yep. Can confirm none of the albums on the 2024 BGO UK release are needle drops.

 

Just ordered the BGO UK set from Amazon. Very much looking forward to hearing it. Does anyone know the BGO track record ?

I am lucky to have scored the Hip-O Select set for $30 this past Saturday.

 

I don't like those overdubs and some of the remixing done on the 1969 Greatest Hits album.

 

I like it for the fact that at least it’s more material to listen to and different.

I prefer the song Like To Get To Know You when it has the full single version too.
