Q:Would this be able to be hooked up via a quick connect hose system? Could you use a regulated quick connect hose hooking up to a quick connect adapter on the unit? For example the Mr. Heater Big Buddy Hose with Regulator item "F271803"

      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry. There is no quick connect adapter on the unit, so no quick connect hoses will be an option.

Great Idea Poor QC of real world testing
DXH12B is known for being broken out of the box (I've bought 3 just to get 1 working unit). Other reviews point this out as well. Just the plug to the board hits the floating assembly where the tanks attach. So when shipped, dropped or jostled it and bump the 5 pin connector and break off the circuit board. Simply reducing this to a 3 pin or cut the 2 off would save the unit. The Dewalt unit is the best one out there for features (20v battery fan, USB charging, 2 tanks attached and LED light) but this one flaw might be the undoing of a great product idea.

          great heater
I bought this heater during a power outage. I have a large amout of dewalt tools and have plenty of battery packs always charged and on hand so that wasnt an issue. This heater helped keep my dogs warm during the 3 day outage since i could not keep them in the hotel. 2 1lb canisters lasted over 12 hours and a fully charged batter lasted plenty. You can also run it without the battery fan but the fan helps circulate the heat better. Also you can run it off of 1 or 2 propane canisters, there is also a hose you can buy to run it off of a larger propane tank. Great product

DeWalt makes another great product with its venture into propane heaters. Texas finally turned cool in October, so I have the chance to use the 12K BTU radiant heater. I have to say right up front that you need two items before you can use the heater. The first is a special propane hose that hooks up to your tank. The heater has a built-in regulator, so you need the hose only. It’s a special hose that has a male fitting, it can be purchased from any location that sells Mr. Heater or DeWalt heaters. If you wish to use the fan, you must have a DeWalt battery. It has several great features that makes it practical and safe. It is rated for indoor use and has a CO2 sensor that will shut the heater down in oxygen levels get unsafe. It also has spaces for hangers in case you need to mount it up high. I found mine easy to light and adjust. It warmed up a tool shed very quickly in 40-degree weather. It would work well in a duck or deer blind, plus it will keep your cameras warm and dry. All-in-all this is a great product to have.

Very nice propane heater. I have another manufacturers, but it requires four D batteries for the fan and it seems I go through them often. One of the nice features of this model is the ability to use the DeWalt rechargeable's. The light in the handle is pretty bright, but the handle does not go straight up and down (90 degree) and that can be annoying to the eyes. The three access doors, two for the propane and third one for the USB ports and igniter, are made of plastic with a plastic tab lock. Can't verify how that will hold up with frequent use and bitter cold. The propane nozzles swivel for easier hose or canister installation. The fan is nice. Decent output and relatively quiet. There are 20lb propane hose restrictions regarding specific manufactures when using the system in recreational enclosures or temporary work environments. The hose manufacturer models are listed in the manual. Ignitor requires the included AAA battery. Heats up very quickly.

This is a great little utilitz, if you ave the right use case. I coult imagine this being awesome when going camping (or rather glamping) and don't want to miss out on at home convenience like your phone or a little blutetooth speaker. The fact that it has two compartments for 1lb propane bottles adds to the otherwise quite limited use time and you can get a bit more out of it. In my case I will use it as an emergency heater for a guest house in case we lose power. I won#t be needing the battery so it is a bit over the top for me. Also, If you want to use it like that you'll absolutely need to connect it to a 20lb reusable bottle. For the price I am a bit disappointed that this unit does not include an adaptor hose but I had to buy one.

Since PG&E has decided to periodically turn our power off in California due to their wildfire safety program I have been looking for alternative heating methods for our home. So far alone this year we have had our power shut off five different times. All five times we were left without any way to heat any portion of our home. It hasn't been too bad yet because Fall is just beginning but once Winter sets in we are going to have a problem. This Dewalt 12,000 BTU portable propane heater fits the bill perfectly for what I need. It it light enough that I can carry it with me from room to room or just set it in the area we are all hanging out in the most. With (2) 1 lb. propane tanks installed and a battery to run the fan it can provide hours and hours of nice warm heat. If things get real bad I can bring in my 5 gallon propane tank from my bbq and with my adaptor hose I can get even more run time. The one thing I love most about this heater is that it can be used indoors without hurting someone. One other reason I have always wanted a portable heater is so that I could still do projects in the garage all year around without freezing to death. My garage has lots of great lighting and all my tools are all ready to be used but sometimes it gets so cold your hands don't want to work for you. Especially if you are trying to do something intricate. With this heater hooked to one of my 20 gallon propane tanks along with the adaptor hose it will probably last me the whole winter in there. The Dewalt engineers thought of everything when they designed this heater. It has a light built into the handle, it has 3-USB ports for charging personal electronics and accessories, it has a built in fan to help push the heat throughout the area you are in and it comes with an electronic ignition so you don't have to keep pushing the igniter button over and over trying to get it to light. With the adjustable knob you can dial the heat up or down to make it just right. My wife just got a new job working in a large showroom and she is already threatening to take this to work so she can use it by her desk or anywhere she is in the showroom to keep herself warm. With the real large windows and the concrete floor she was already worrying about how she was going to keep her feet warm during the Fall and Winter months but now she doesn't have to worry about it at all. We can get a half dozen of the 1 lb. propane bottles and she will be good to go for quite a while. If you are looking for a portable heater that can be used both indoors and outdoors from a brand you know and trust I would definitely give this portable heater from Dewalt a try. Just beware that it doesn't come with a battery or charger so you will need to purchase them seperately if you don't already have them. I'm looking forward to getting years and years of use out of this heater and with Fall and Winter rapidly approaching I will be using it quite a bit.

Here's a great sized Portable Propane Radiant Heater, with high/low settings, LED work light, dual tank capability and 3 USB charging ports. Works with all DEWALT 20-Volt MAX or FLEXVOLT batteries. Features include - 7 hours of run-time with two cans (tanks) on low setting, you can also use a adapter hose for a 20 lb LP tank for longer run times. We used it replacing our door, provide general warmth (low setting) and lighting, it was easily moved as needed and kept the shadows ar bay with it's LED Light.

This little heater is exactly what I needed for my deer stand. It is compact and easy to carry, and it holds two camping cylinders of propane--so it should last all day if needed. It heats up quickly, and is simple to use. It is equipped with a fan and a light that can be activated if you have the corresponding DeWalt battery pack, and that is a nice feature.

This propane heater is the result of thoughtful design and engineering. It is most portable and safe using two one-pound tanks. Placing the heater on a workbench in order to attach the tanks, it becomes obvious just how convenient it is to rotate the threaded receivers out on an angle to facilitate the screwing in of the tanks. Since leaks can be deadly, this step calls for utmost caution to insure that no cross-threading occurs. Testing using soapy water follows. To use, insert a DeWalt battery (I used a 5ah 20v). Unscrew the electronic spark switch and install the included battery. There was some air at first in the line but in less than a minute the pilot light ignited and stayed on with the switch in the proper position. Next, I moved the control to low heat position and turned the fan on. I also turned on the light in the handle which has 10 LEDs. and found it put out a very good light. The heat generated was almost immediate and the panel began to glow light red. There is also a switch for the usb charging ports which one must remember to turn off when it is not needed.

A good friend was talking to me about our frequent power outages in the mid-Atlantic area and I said my biggest fear is being without heat. He recommended a small propane heater. This DeWalt meets my needs plus much more. My friend only has a single canister propane heater. This one holds two. In addition because I have DEWalt tools the battery packs can be used to provide light, a fan, and more importantly 3 USB ports so I can keep my iPhone and devices charged. Great heater gives off 12,000 BTUs so awesome for camping, tailgating or just sitting outside at night during the fall.
