First Appearance: Action Comics #760 (December, 1999)

Powers: Encantadora possessed a vial of the Mists of Ibella, which gave her the powers of telekinesis, teleportation, and limited mind control.

History: (Secret Origins of Super-Villains 80-Page Giant #1 (fb)) - Lourdes’ father was an archaeologist who went mad after discovering the mystic Mist of Ibella. He kept a vial of the mist in the family home but refused to throw it away and kept the family living as paupers, fearing that if he used the Mist they would be corrupted by its’ magic. Her father died and begged her to bury the vial. She used the vial to become La Encantadora and vowed to dream big and make a good life for herself and her baby brother, no matter what the cost.

(Secret Origins of Super-Villains 80-Page Giant #1) - La Encantadora arrived in Bludhaven and after making a name for herself she was approached by Blockbuster. She turned down Blockbuster’s heavy-handed come-ons, but accepted a job to destroy a steel foundry owned by his rival Boom-Boom Morett. He didn’t tell her that he’d had his men kidnap Moretti’s family and had them tied up in the foundry. She found Moretti’s family and saved them before the foundry exploded. Encantadora pushed Blockbuster off a rooftop and told him she’d never work for him again. She realized Blockbuster would be after her head, so she took Victor and moved to Metropolis, which looked much nicer than Bludhaven.

Encantadora met Superman and became his sometimes friend sometimes foe.
