What a truly inspiring story about one of birtians boxing greats. This documentary follows the rise and fall of Ricky Hatton coming from absolutely nothing to then becoming a world champion. This also is a really sad story about how family greed can destroy relationships. Ricky's dad doesn't come off as a nice person and didn't even show a single ounce of remorse for what he did ultimately destirying Hattons relashionship with his trainer who stuck by him through it all. Really glad I watched this and If you are a boxing fan I'd definitely recommend this documentary.

Really good documentary, Ricky is clearly a troubled fella.
Matters not helped by some of his family.
Money makes people crazy and selfish at times.
But is clear that despite his troubles, Hatton is a proper bloke. I wish his all the best.

Nice little doc. While I can appreciate it wanted to draw attention to Hatton's mental health and family issues, oh boy would I have loved to see a couple more of his significant fights, cheeky interviews, outrageous meals, jovial pints, and packed out stadiums.
His trainer had a pet monkey. They lived in a high-rise apartment in Salford. If you can't see the poetry in that, you're lost.
I should emphasize "they" refers to the trainer and the monkey. The monkey hadn't transitioned at that point in time. One major criticism of the doc would be we it didn't track down our simian friend. They would have a fresh perspective on the events, especially Vegas.

Most of the doc is an incredibly partial retelling of Hatton's career. Lots of excuses made by the people in his life for his defeats, and their part in them. The doc presents his career as basically over when he lost to Mayweather, potential lost to drugs etc.
To take one example. The documentary claims that Hatton's loss against Pacquiao was entirely the fault of his then trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. The doc says that Sr's training methods were too old school, and he had physically destroyed Hatton before the fight with Pacquiao - where he was knocked out in the second round.
It however neglets to mention that he got the Pacquiao fight off the back of knocking out…
