My favorite Night Ranger album, including some of my favorite tunes of the band, like "Interstate Love Affair", "Four in the Morning", "Sentimental Street", "Goodbye", and the title track.
Quality mullet rock release with a classy guitar player like Brad Gillis (ex-Ozzy).

I have a weak spot for the kind of prog-tinged melodic hard rock that these proficient musicians made on their first three albums.
'7 Wishes' is their third and second best.

I was never much good at goodbye
7 Wishes is chock full of great ones like Sentimental Street and Four In The Morning. Neither of which I overly love but can appreciate. I like Night Ranger best when they play the part of a screaming-Guitar Metal band. The highlight of the album for me is the gorgeous Power Ballad Goodbye. It was less popular than the two I mentioned earlier but struck a real chord with me. The title track, Interstate Love Affair, and Night Machine are more the type of Guitar screamers I'd like, though neither are as well written as anything of the debut, though they're not nearly as boneheaded as the average Poison song. Overall I'd recommend 7 Wishes most to fans of AOR and Glam Metal.

This might be the single most common tape at the thrift stores as of late, and I finally nabbed one. Although I can't say I enjoyed it much, it's also a hard album to find fault with beyond a certain facelessness. Good standard '80s American hard rock and aor, and the title track is pretty boss.

Talk about going back in time here! This is GENUINE 80's hair metal. You can almost taste the sugar dripping off it as you listen, and see the big hair if you close your eyes.
That's the thing about the hair metal scene – you either like it or loathe it. Having grown up in the era, I just love it. It is so different to what I listen to on a regular basis, that when I do happen to sit down and put one of these albums on, it is a refreshing change.
No complaints here either. 7 Wishes is a great album and a good example of Night Ranger's art. There are no pretences. It may sound corny to some, but that's the way it should be.
My favourites on the album are "Seven Wishes", "Faces", "This Boy Needs To Rock" and "Night Machine".

Memories : I bought this album on cassette on my trip to Bali in 1991, in the mad search for new bands and bands that I had only one album of. A shame that the 200 (yes, 200) cassettes I bought on that trip were lost some two years later. I didn't hear this again until just a few months ago.

Rating : Dated a little, but sometimes that just adds to the nostalgia. 3/5.

The best album of 1985, one of the best albums of the 80's overall, and one of the greatest albums ever made!!!!!

how the hell did this get into my tape collection? i'm positive that i've never bought any night ranger. sure, i could sit through a few of their earlier hits, if forced to, but sheesh, actually owning one of their releases without knowledge?

so i gave it a spin, when i was in such a mood. i remember the hits. "four in the morning", "sentimental street", "goodbye". these guys were a hit machine and 7 wishes was their make-it-or-break-it moment. they made it, but this was also their last album anyone noticed.

too many of the songs are bombastic, oppressive, immature, calculated-for-the-hit-parade-fodder you'd expect from mid-80s hair farmers disguised as a metal band. they seem like nice guys though, so half star for good over evil [& "sentimental street", an obvious rewrite of earlier hit "sister christian" that is somehow just as good].
