Bella Thorne Goes on a Killing Spree in ‘Saint Clare’ from ‘Braid’ Director Mitzi Peirone
Actress, model and singer Bella Thorne (“Scream”, The Babysitter, Amityville: The Awakening, Girl) continues to play in the genre with Saint Clare, a new thriller she’s set to star in from Braid director Mitzi Peirone, writes Deadline.
The thriller was co-scripted by Guinevere Turner, who co-penned the screenplay for American Psycho.
The project will follow Clare Bleecker (Thorne), a quiet catholic college student with a divine vocation for killing.
The story is based on novel “Clare at 16” by Don Roff, with its novel sequel out in 2023.
Producers are in negotiations with Rebecca DeMornay (“Jessica Jones”) to join the cast, with additional casting of other key roles underway.
Production is scheduled to begin soon in Kentucky.
Screen Media will distribute the film in the U.S.

Inspired by Nicholas Hogg’s 2015 novel Tokyo Nobody, the thriller A Sacrifice starring Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”) is on the way from Vertical, and the official trailer has arrived.
From director Jordan Scott, the film releases on June 28, 2024.
“A Sacrifice is an emotionally turbulent story that follows American social psychologist Ben Monroe who is investigating a local Berlin cult connected to disturbing events.
“While he immerses himself in his work, his rebellious teenage daughter, Mazzy, becomes embroiled with a mysterious local boy who introduces her to the city’s underground party scene. As their two worlds head toward a dangerous intersection, Ben will need to race against the clock in order to save his daughter.”
Sadie Sink stars alongside Eric Bana and Sylvia Hoeks.
A Sacrifice is produced by Ridley Scott.
