Cabaret – Broadway Reviews & Awards

Cabaret opened on Sunday 21 April 2024 at the August Wilson Theatre. Reviews from the New York critics have been mixed, with publications such as the Daily Beast and Entertainment Weekly wholeheartedly loving the show; whilst the powerful New York Times, plus industry bible Variety, the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal all enjoyed some aspects of the production but didn’t offer a rave review; and TimeOut New York and Vulture were pretty negative.

The critics may be undecided, but the show has already scored some Awards nominations, with the Drama League Awards today nominating the show for four awards – Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Distinguished Performance Award for Eddie Redmayne, Distinguished Performance Award for Gayle Rankin, and Outstanding Direction of a Musical for Rebecca Frecknall.

Cabaret boasts music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Joe Masteroff based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood.

Cabaret on Broadway is now booking to 29 March 2025.

Cabaret in London is playing at the Kit Kat Club / Playhouse Theatre, starring Cara Delevingne and Luke Treadaway.
