Das ist aber die Filmfiktion, auf deren Grundlage die komischen Wirkungen erzielt werden, die aus dem Kontrast der mit Worten verbrämten Gedanken über den unausstehlichen Macho Mel Gibson resultieren.
Inhalt in Kürze:
Mel Gibson wird durch seinen eigenen Filmvater aus Firmenräson bei einer Beförderung übergangen und bekommt Helen Hunt als abgeworbene Spitzenkraft aus einer Konkurrenzfirma hierarchisch vor die Nase gesetzt.
Weil er aber durch den elektrischen Schlag nunmehr hört, was die Frauen denken, erlangt er allmählich fachlich und menschlich die Vorherrschaft, der Helen Hunt mehr oder weniger gewollt erliegt, wobei die wachsende Zuneigung zueinander eine gewisse Rolle spielt. Mel Gibson wandelt seinen Charakter zum Frauenversteher. Am Ende wird es rührselig, was empfindsameren Gemütern die Tränen kommen lässt (nicht abwertend gemeint). Bei einem Gewitter verliert er seine übernatürliche Fähigkeit, auf die Me l Gibson keinen Wert mehr legt.
