This is an exceptional mastering, cut, pressing, basically audiophile. I own a handful of other copies of this, 1st pressing SPs, Pittman, UK. The high end clarity and extended bass is really quite good, like no other I've heard (on this Australian LP). https://www.discogs.com/release/5056980-Robert-Plant-Pictures-At-Eleven

Is there anyone out there willing to scan a high resolution image of their OBI and add it to photos? My copy didn’t have one and I’d love to have it for my copy

This is a great album. Robert’s voice is great as always and he had some of the best backing musicians playing instruments. Awesome album.

This album has its own charm. The lyrics are a bit impenetrable but it’s got nice musical details that reveal themselves over time.
Phil Collins’s drumming on this is superb.
He plays on 1-3, 5 and 8. Cozy Powell plays on 4 and 7, and a Roland drum machine is on 8.
Slow Dancer could have been on Physical Graffiti or Presence by Led Zeppelin.

I bought this record on release and not thinking I was getting the next incarnation of Zeppelin. Although Like I’ve Never Been Gone could be a Zeppelin song.

The songs have held up over time well, Plant’s vocals are some of his best. Blunt does an outstanding performance on this record.

I love Robert Plant's first two albums from the moment they were released and Pictures At Eleven is a desert island album for me. It has grabbed me from day one and would love to see him get back with this band and see what they could do now.

Love this album. (and the 2nd one)….Blunt is a more polished guitarist than Page, and more versatile as well IMO. Cozy Powell is stiff as wood, but Phil Collins is the man with musicality and groove. Thank Goodness he played on the majority of the LP.
Plant's vocals are as strong as they would ever be here. 4/5.

My copy of this carries the same matrix details as this but has the following label differences: it has NO Rights Society logo under 'STEREO' and on both labels, the title of track 4 lines up with the islands on the horizon of the label design.

I cannot find another version similar to mine on here - what do I have? Anyone know?

1982 the world had long been demanding and starving for more Led Zeppelin, which of course, was never going to come. The world already knew all of this back in 1982 but that didn't stop them from being hungry & starved.
Led Zeppelin was a one of a kind band that magically came from 3 guys that ran into each other, and the music that came from that union was unique because it represented none of the players, only the combination.
This is a surprisingly good album. Plant sings his heart out as only he can. The backing musicians are all extreme professionals. Excellent music. It's just not Led Zeppelin.
Can you blame Robert Plant for wanting to live out his own life instead of spending decades as a shadow of the past, never producing any music that truly represents himself with that amazing voice? I can't imagine it.
Can you blame Robert Plant, who is already bored for years by this time, for wanting to be himself now that he is successful and can never go back to the music of Led Zep except as an 'oldies' act?
Hence, you add up the world's hunger plus the industry greed plus the most incredible over-hype and FM over-playing which probably hurt sales more than helped. You have all the ingredients for a commercial flop.
But it's still a very good rock&roll LP that showcases Plant's torch singing within the genre abilities.
I like the songs a lot. I just don't want to hear them a million times in a row & this isn't what I pick to listen to when I'm in the mood to 'crank up some Zep'.
It really is a very good LP. It's just not Led Zeppelin.

I still listen to old Led Zeppelin albums from time to time and I think they still sound great. This album, on the other hand, is something that I was eager to hear when it came out but its not an album that I have really ever gone back to in later years. With the exception of Robert Plant songs like 'Far Post' (a RP contribution to the soundtrack of the film 'White Nights' in 1985) & 'Network News' (from the RP album Fate of Nations in 1993) I think Robert Plant's solo career was a bust. The main problem being that he didn't get with any guitarists who were truly notable after Led Zep ended in 1980. Robbie Blunt, the guitarist on this album- was an "OK" player but I think he didn't possess anywhere near the same level of talent as a rock guitarist like Jimmy Page. When I saw the 'Pictures at Eleven' tour I was not impressed by the band Robert had put together. Phil Collins drumming on one song-Cozy Powell on another-the band lacked a definitive sound. This album was a major let down for many rock fans. I would think that Robert Plant of all people would have realized that if he was going to go on tour after Led Zeppelin had ended it was going to have to be something really good. I didn't think this was a good enough project for him. The album often sounds forced/contrived and its not one of the ones I reach for when I need 'a shot of decent rock.' File under 'side projects.'
