Apprentice Selina: I could be jailed thanks to the BBC; Stripper lies 'have ruined my life'.
Byline: EXCLUSIVE BY TOM BRYANT Head of Showbiz
AN Apprentice hopeful fears she may be deported or even sent to jail after being wrongly branded a stripper.
Selina Waterman-Smith, who lives in Dubai, has attacked the BBC for not doing more to help after false claims on social media she was an "exotic dancer". And the 31-year-old says she has been warned to expect a call from police in the strict Muslim Gulf state where she is a resident.
The claims began when the events company boss admitted on the show that she was a podium dancer at UK festivals when she was younger.
Selina said: "Dubai is very, very strict. My lawyers have told me to expect a call from the police.
"This is not England. They don't have a sensible justice system.
"I could be deported or go to jail.
It has ruined my life. I hold the BBC ultimately responsible."
An Apprentice spokesman said: "We take our duty of care very seriously and strongly refute all allegations to the contrary." A show source said the "exotic dancer" label was coined by the media and the production team had tried to protect Selina by removing mention of it.
