I want to tell parents of trans kids under attack in the red states something: This is simply horrifying. Like you, we can't understand how any politicians could stoop so low as to attack the most vulnerable among us. You are strong, and we will fight for and beside you. And… Show more

"We conclude that Kentucky's statute requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments in public school rooms has no secular legislative purpose, and is therefore unconstitutional." – U.S. Supreme Court, Stone v. Graham, 449 U.S. 39 (1980)

Absolutely crazy. Today the Texas Senate passed a bill to force every public school classroom in the state to prominently display a copy of the Ten Commandments. They also passed a bill to set prayer and bible reading times during the school day.

It that headline said "In one day, three bills targeting Jews..." maybe America could see the fucking parallels. Or maybe not, given that we don't teach history anymore.

This is so so wrong. How are people of other faiths or no religion supposed to feel??? This isn’t what our founders had in mind.

Public schools in Texas would have to prominently display the Ten Commandments in every classroom starting next school year under a bill the Senate approved. The Senate also passed a bill that would set prayer and Bible reading times during the school day.bit.ly/3AhiP9G

Gotta be honest, when the high court waits until a Friday to release a major ruling, I have a terrible feeling more of the rights of women are going to be torn away.

And here is the audio. You can’t make this stuff up. They know Gen Z is fired up & rejecting what this Republican Party stands for. Instead of listening to us and engaging with us, they are making it harder for us to vote. Shameful & it won’t work.

EXCLUSIVE AUDIO: Trump coup attorney Cleta Mitchell wants to "combat" voting on college campuses, citing North Carolina and Wisconsin, and says that when Republicans win the state Senate in Virginia, they can eliminate 45 days of early voting and same day voter registration.

This woman is monstrous. A child of 10 being forced to carry a pregnancy risks death or permanent physical damage.

Laura Strietmann, Cincinnati Right to Life leader, on the 10-year-old girl who was raped and went to Indiana for an abortion: "While a pregnancy might have been difficult on a 10-year-old body, a woman's body is designed to carry life." OH State Rep. Miranda (D) shuts her down.

This is a terrific thread that captures the daunting choices that face young people, and why they despise the GOP. It's long, but so worth reading. Show it to your elderly Fox watchers.

Republicans are so flabbergasted over their inability to connect with young voters it’s almost comical. You wanna know why they hate you and upwards of 90% of them will never vote for you @GOP? I’ll break it down for you (Thread)

This graphic so perfectly sums up the whole Bud Light boycott by Conservatives. Boycotting a beer because they pay an influencer who is transgender to have some fun and promote their product, is about as petty and insecure as it gets. Taking things further, to then attack… Show more

Justice Thomas is either spectacularly ignorant of how to report income (there are accountants who can help with that) or he was laundering money through this dodge in order to hide it's actual source.

If I was writing about the 2024 Republican primary in the style of a Restoration Comedy… Ron DeSantis: Squire Puddingfingers of Chapel Meatball, new to the ways of London Donald Trump: Duke Umber Wandercock, wicked, dissipated and bankrupt

This is terrific and will give you the tools you need to rebut "tools" who show up to make this argument. #RepresentativeDemocracy

"We're a republic, not a democracy." Six of the most annoying words in U.S. political, & especially U.S. conservative, discourse. It's B.S., so I rebutted & debunked it in my #minirant, citing Madison, Hamilton, & Lincoln along the way. Pls watch/share:

Florida will now require rape and incest victims to show β€œdocuments” to prove they got raped. If they can’t provide them, the government will mandate they give birth to their rapist’s child.

The sad truth is that for most of its history the Supreme Court has been an anti-democratic institution. From Dred Scott to Plessy v. Ferguson to Korematsu, to Citizens United, to Dobbs it is a tale of ugly. As someone who loved Constitutional Law I find this so depressing.

Republicans also voted to fully defund diversity programs, state run child care, and all state funded pre-school. They did this as an act of revenge. Note the lack of "apparently" in that previous sentence. 2/

Wow. Two weeks ago a judge ordered the public library in Llano County, TX to return books banned by conservative activists. Now, this week county officials will meet to discuss eliminating the library entirely. More from @serrano_alej: texastribune.org/2023/03/31/tex
