What Ryan Gravenberch is really thinking about leaving Liverpool, after links to Galatasaray

After a difficult period, it has been a big few days for Ryan Gravenberch at Liverpool.

The 21-year-old has not had the most comfortable of debut seasons after arriving at Anfield from Bayern Munich in September.

Although there was plenty of initial promise in Gravenberch’s displays, he has been accused of getting worse as the season has developed. For anyone who has watched Liverpool all year, that will be hard to argue with.

Nevertheless, the Dutchman is still incredibly young. His first Premier League goal at the weekend – to give the Reds the lead against Fulham – is hopefully a sign that he’s back on the right track.

According to reports from last week though, Gravenberch may not have too much longer in which to turn things around. Claims from Turkey came in that Galatasaray are looking at signing the midfielder ahead of next season [FotoMac]. Now, it’s been revealed how Gravenberch himself feels about the whole thing.

Ryan Gravenberch responds to exit rumours

If Liverpool were to sell Gravenberch tomorrow, it doesn’t feel as though there would be too many Reds supporters grumbling all that much.

The Netherlands international simply hasn’t kicked on in the way expected. If Liverpool were to get a good fee for Gravenberch and replace him – maybe even with young Tyler Morton, for example – it might be seen as a positive.

But according to Sky Germany, Gravenberch isn’t planning on giving up the ghost on Merseyside any time soon.

They claim that in light of links to Galatasaray, the former Bayern player is determined to stay and fight for his future at Anfield.

Gravenberch is said to be clear in his mind that he wants to continue and ‘assert himself’ on Liverpool. Good lad, Ryan!

Should Liverpool sell Ryan Gravenberch

Although we don’t think there’d be all that much fuss kicked up if Gravenberch was to leave – especially on-loan – we’d like to see him stay.

In truth, it was always likely to be a season of acclimatisation for the former Ajax youngster. He only arrived on deadline day and never got into a rhythm at Bayern last year.

Coming to a new, much more physical league was always going to a shock for Gravenberch. But, not 22 until next month, that doesn’t mean he still can’t be a success.

Liverpool’s No.38 may also end up being one of the players to benefit from Jurgen Klopp leaving. Though the German signed Gravenberch, he has never really looked like a Klopp type player. With a new manager and new tactical ideas coming in, Grav could be one of those to improve.

Let’s hope so anyway.
