Robert was the son of Carl Sidney Clark and Dorothy Kitto Cramp. Lida was the daughter of Manuel Rodrigues Ornellas (born Antone Rodrigues), who was Portuguese, from Madeira; and of Christine Texeira, whose parents were also Portuguese.
