Críticas
"The Nineteen Hundreds" is certainly deserving of widespread appreciation. Few songwriters, local or otherwise, look at the real world with as much delight, scrutiny, and humanity as Amanda Green and this album contains a cache of priceless, often beautifully rendered observations" -- Jake Cline- City Link Magazine
Artista biografía
There is a playfulness in Amanda Green's music and indeed, in her life that is quite clear. But as the 1900's come to a close, the Miami based singer-songwriter is coming into her own as an artist and unique voice. The proof is in her second full length album, "The Nineteen Hundreds" on Y&T Music. Recorded at Miami's Criteria Recording Studios,"The Nineteen Hundreds" demonstrates Amanda's natural maturation as a songwriter, with fully realized compositions ranging from the stark chords and imagery of "Heaven Held The World" to the intricate arrangements of "Me And My Wife" and "The Zebra Longwing".
Not that Amanda has lost any of the trademark quirkiness that made her brand of guitar driven alternative rock so infectious and colorful."The Nineteen Hundreds" also includes a nod to 80's new wave innovators Devo, a primary influence on Amanda, in the form of a sizzling cover of the band's "Gut Feeling / Slap Your Mammy Down"
Her 1997 debut album, "Junk and Stuff", also recorded at Criteria, was a bold mix of introspective ballads and edgy rockers, layered with dazzling sonic touches that garnered very positive reviews in respected publications like CMJ New Music Report, Option, Album Network, Juice, FMQB, Performing Songwriter and dozens of other regional music magazines and newpapers. The Miami New Times named her Best Songwriter in it's 1997 popular "Best of Miami" issue.
The album also lead to widespread exposure through six months of steady touring all along the East Coast as Amanda opened for Sheryl Crow, The Goo Goo Dolls, Creed, Marcy Playground, The Marvelous Three and many other national and regional artists.
"Junk and Stuff" also garnered support in the radio segment of the industry, netting airplay on dozens of Adult Alternative, college and modern rock radio stations. Amanda also recieved wide support from the nationally syndicated radio show, "World Cafe", where she was a featured performer on the show. An independent video for the winsome "Why Do I Have To Die", was aired on regional video shows and was spotlighted on MTV's "Indie Outing" show about independent artists.
The 1900's may be coming to an end, but Amanda Green is just hitting her stride, giving us another reason to welcome the millenium. Let's hope it as fun and challenging as "The Nineteen Hundreds"
