Confusion about falling below 12 credits

General

Okay, so I’ve been hearing many people say that dropping below 12 credits will impact your financial aid in the future. THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR FRESHMANS, however, please call or go to the financial aid office just to make sure that’s the case for you. Currently I have to drop one of my class as I don’t want my GPA to be impacted (and I’ll also have 9 credits instead of 12.5) but since I’m a freshman, I’m allowed to drop it without it impacting my aid. (I’ve spoken to three financial aid advisors btw) Obviously this will be the last time I’m withdrawing from a class, but just wanted to let some people know who might be on the same boat as me

Also, please call the financial aid office and make sure they check your account to know whether or not you can drop the class. Don’t follow around what other people say. I was informed by another student, but had to make sure with the financial aid office

thank you so much for this post cause i’ve been stressed about this same situation. this is so random

Yes, make sure to call them though cause we got to make sure 😭 they’ve already told the same thing to so many freshman’s which I’m sure they’re tired of, but it’s better to ask them tm!! I’ve been stressed over bio and there’s no point in trying in that class atp, so I’m withdrawing from it soon
