GEORGE SEATON Obituary

June 25, 1921 - June 9, 2013 ADA Services for George Lee Seaton, 91, a longtime resident of Ada, are at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Ada, OK. Mr. Seaton died on Sunday, June 9 in Norman. Mr. Seaton enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. His support group participated in the Normandy Invasion on Omaha Beach and then went to the Pacific to prepare for the invasion of Japan. He was discharged to Inactive Duty in 1946 with a rank of Lieutenant (j.g.). After discharge from the Navy, he returned to East Central to complete his college education, and he met his future wife, Elva Hardage, there. They were married on July 12, 1946. Mr. Seaton was a teacher, elementary school principal and superintendent at Elmore City, OK from 1946 to 1957. He then worked for the Vocational Rehabilitation division of the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services from 1957 until his retirement in 1986, with offices in Ardmore and Ada. He was a member of the Ada First Baptist Church in Ada. Survivors include four children: son, Derry Seaton and wife Jeanne, of Claremont, CA; daughter, Debbie Deering and husband David, of Norman, OK; daughter, Gail Dale and husband Jas, of Moscow, KS; and son, Brent Seaton, of Irvine, CA; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
