Charles Bradshaw
July 15, 1936 - May 4, 2023
Spartanburg, South Carolina - Charles Jackson Bradshaw was born in Lake City Florida to James William and Florence Sanders Bradshaw on July 15, 1936. Charlie was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Julia Brewer Bradshaw, daughter Julia Dargan Bradshaw and brothers James William Bradshaw, Jr., Sanders Hatfield Bradshaw, Sam Bradshaw and Jerome Davis Bradshaw.
Growing up in Lake City Florida and later Dublin Georgia, Charlie enjoyed baseball and football, excelling in both sports. He attended the University of Georgia on a football scholarship where he was proud to be one of "Wally's Boys." After an injury, he transferred to Wofford College where he served as Student Body President, graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics and, most importantly, met the love of his life, Judy. He was honored to become a Little All American Quarterback setting many school records earning entry into the Wofford College and South Carolina Athletic Halls of Fame.
Charlie Co-Founded Spartan Food Systems, which opened its first Hardee's on Kennedy St in Spartanburg in 1961. After many years of growth with Hardee's and Quincy's Steakhouse, Spartan Foods sold to Trans World Corporation, where Charlie served as President and Chief Operating Officer overseeing TWA Airlines, Hilton International Hotels, Canteen Corporation, Century 21 Real Estate and Spartan Food Systems. After retirement, Charlie founded Bradshaw Investments and served on many Corporate Boards of Directors and Charitable Foundations and was later inducted into the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame.
Charlie and his wife Judy loved the Lord and were founding members of Westminster Presbyterian Church where they worshiped and served in many capacities. They lived a charmed life and raised a family in Spartanburg. After retirement they enjoyed summers in Linville and winters in South Florida where Charlie pursued his love for golf.
He is survived by his sister, Maymie Lou Bradshaw Spearman, sons Charlie Bradshaw, Jr (Virginia), and their children: Mary Patricia Bradshaw McGreevy (Whit), Julia Ann Bradshaw, Frances Lee Bradshaw Salerno (Ryan) as well as son Bill Bradshaw and his children: William Brewer Bradshaw, Jr (Cassidy), Thomas Samuel Bradshaw (Jamie Keith) and Marcia Collins Bradshaw Cromie (Michael) and eight great grandchildren that he adored.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 12th at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg SC.

Memories and Condolences
for Charles Bradshaw

Not sure what to say?

I am the tech that worked with Mr. Bradshaw and his medication when he was in the mountains. I actually just tried to call and check on Mr. Bradshaw and realized he had passed. I know his heart was broken after Mrs. Bradshaw passed. This breaks my heart
he was always so kind to me and also apologized for taking my time when he called. I always laughed and said you do not need to apologize to me for doing my job and besides I enjoyed talking with him. I know he will be missed terribly but he is in a better place with his love.

Bill and Charlie and families- I have had such happy memories of growing up in Spartanburg with your kind generous parents always welcoming me as we enjoyed being kids. Some of my favorite memories are of summers at Fripp Island. Please know how much I hold you and yours in prayer for peace and comfort at this time of loss.

Dear Charles, Jr, Bill and family, My family and I were deeply saddened when we heard of Judy's departure and the sadness was double hearing of Charlie's departure. In 1970 Geneva and I were called as the pastor of Westminster Spartanburg. We were greeted by the Bradshaw family. They were dedicated Christians. I was the second called minister and the first minister after the new sanctuary was completed. Charlie was one of the very active deacons. Furniture was needed in the new area and the outside needed landscaping. The Deacons had a major task. Charlie, asking that no recognition be given him came to our rescue more than once. Judy gave much of her time visiting older persons giving devotions. It was my privilege to have all three children in the confirmation classes. Charles, Jr. (April 8, 1973), William B. (March 23, 1975) and Julia Dragon (April 11, 1976). Presbyterian and Wofford were rivals back then. I was at the game when Charlie was quarterback. Wofford was winning. Charlie's pass was intercepted by chance and Presbyterian won. I was a student at Presbyterian and reminded Charlie. His reply, "You don't forget those games." We have exchanged Christmas Greetings for many years. You have wonderful memories of your loving Mom and Dad. Pleas know you will continue in our prayers. May the Lord comfort and sustain you with the knowledge they are together again in the place prepared. They will never be separated again. Love, Bob Pettit

Mr. and Mrs . Bradshaw would be considered the perfect role models to pattern your life and family and build your own legacy.
Learned a tremendous amount of knowledge from him . My first lesson was food cost and my second was the importance of accuracy in projecting finance models.
My lesson from Judy was to always treat people with respect .
Memories to live by .
