I have lived in Wilmington all of my life. I really enjoy living here, the people are friendly, the homes are nice, and we often have many opportunities if you put yourself out there. I recommend the city to anyone. There is not much that I would personally change because it is quite nice. I never have any problems here and witness bad things like the nationals ratings says Wilmington is.
I was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. My family has primarily lived in the urban areas of the city. Overall, Wilmington is a perfect combination of a small town and city. There are plenty of places to get a decent meal, public transportation is acceptable, and large cities are within an hour in many directions. One of my favorite characteristics would be the state parks. The Brandywine is accessible to many walks of life and gives you a break from the busier areas.
Overall I love living in Wilmington. I am currently 24 still living with my parents, so it can be hard finding an inexpensive apartment, but there is so much to do in Wilmington and I love that businesses are open late. It’s nice being close to Philadelphia and West Chester, there’s always something to do. I also love the people in this area. I have been living and working in Wilmington for 6 years now, and I have met some of my best friends at the jobs I’ve worked. Customers are always nice. Overall I think Wilmington is a great place to live.
good place to raise a family. suburbs are spread out like all suburbs, but it's in close proximity to a lot of cute, small towns. good schools and good access to higher education.
I have lived in Wilmington for the majority of my life. The city isn't the safest. I have had my car stolen. Others I know have had their cars looted. However, the city has its positives, there are so many things to do. It is close to Philidelphia, New York, and Washington, DC. It is also filled with a wide variety of different people from different backgrounds, which is refreshing. I don't plan to live in Wilmington in the future, but I could see why others would.
My overall experience in a Wilmington is very fair. It has its teaching moments. Everyone knows everyone, there’s job opportunities for a lot. It’s a big community.
IT's nice. Def more of a city then a town so idk why its listed as that. Has everything you need, I would live outside of the city tho not inside.
New to Wilmington and love the vibe of this town. Lots of history but new restaurants and tons of stuff for kids and families. Really excellent schools as well; lots of school choice. Lots of different neighborhoods with character. Watch out for some of the older winding roads - barely two lanes! The Breidablik neighborhood has a lovely park like setting. All custom homes. Wonderful neighbors. And NO HOA! There is a Civic Association, but membership is purely voluntary (not required) despite how that has been communicated to some current and prospective homeowners.
I have lived in the city of Wilmington for the majority of my life. It is the place where I have grown the most as a person. I like Wilmington for its close sense of community, how everyone in the town is somehow connected with one another. I would like the city of Wilmington to change by allowing diversity of communities, as well as their cultures, to flourish more.
My overall experience has been amazing. I’ve lived here since I was extremely young and I love everything about this town. Unlike our Pennsylvanian neighbors, there is no sales tax. On top of that, we live in close proximity to large cities like Philadelphia and New York. Everyone knows each other here, and there are plenty of extracurricular opportunities for young people in the area (i.e., sports leagues, music ensembles, etc.)
I've grown up my entire life in the same house in the Wilmington Delaware suburbs. It has some very nice aspects, close to some nice parks, and has easy access to interesting things to do in the area. The walkability of the city could be improved.
More trained police presence and town hall meetings with the mayor and local businesses. The community needs to be engaged with local businesses to further enrich our future.
I have lived in Wilmington my entire life! It has overall been a good experience. It is one of those areas where you'll most likely find someone who knows someone you know. As we like to say, its a small world, especially in Delaware! There are many parks around here and the beaches aren't too far away. The restaurants are awesome! One of my favorite places is the boardwalk on the riverfront. It is super beautiful!
Affordable housing and great job opportunities in this small city. Great place for young people who want to start out with a small family.
Wilmington isn't perfect but it's not terrible either, they had good areas and parts that are not so great. It seems they want to clean up the bad areas but aren't sure where to start or how to do it. No where is perfect but Wilmington is a good as you make it!
Wilmington is such a diverse city and that's what I love the most, the diversity. I've only lived in Wilmington Delaware for about 4 years now but the friendships and memories I've made in this city will never compare to anywhere else I've been. This home.
Wilmington does not have a lot of things to do for all ages. Most teenagers and kids struggle to find places to go during their downtime, making it not so enjoyable. Most end up at a mall or local target.
