Reviews
- Back when mixtapes were a thing, big t-shirts and dickies, and putting your homies on the record when they are just mediocre rappers - this tape encapsulates not only the best of the We Got It 4 Cheap series, but the early 2000's as a hole; and truly puts on display what makes Virginia rap so eclectic : double time beats and flossy rhymes , told with confidence , minus the boisterous. Yet, these highlights are not enough to blindout the fact that Pharell always needed to write longer verses, and early 2000's posse's always had their weak links. Still, some subpar bars can be overlooked by the way the Clipse flips Biggie-style bars over classic instrumentals like the Boost Mobile commercial "Coast 2 Coast" and a great what if scenario when the brothers trade bars over Timbaland's "Put You On The Game". Yeah , this is a throwback, a history lesson, but history class doesn't always have to be boring.
- Really good mixtape from the Clipse (Featuring Ab-Liva and Sandman). This is basically a Best Of containing the best tracks from the "We Got It For Cheap" mixtapes Vol. 1-3. I like it better than any other Clipse album. Check out "Roll With The Winners" as an appetizer
