    A very nice experience !
Suomenlinna has quite a calm and unique atmosphere, and it is important to dress warmly when visiting.
Suomenlinna is a UNESCO world heritage site as a unique example of the military architecture of its time. The sea fortress has also been part of the defense of three different realms; Sweden, Russia and Finland. Nowadays Suomenlinna is a lively neighborhood of Helsinki with some 800 inhabitants. In addition to the military museum, it is worth visiting the Suomenlinna museum to learn about the history of the sea fortress
If you are in Helsinki don't miss it !The ferry ride is an essential part of the visit experience as you can enjoy the sea breeze and views of the city and archipelagos !

Truly is a beautiful modern church which is design and built in a truly unorthodox way.

The finishing and fit outs were beautifully matching the interior of the church with many modern art deco pieces.

The size and the construction of the pipe organ is truly outstanding as well. Please stay around to listen to the acoustics in the church if you have the chance to visit a concert, performance or just to listen to the church organ.

    Excellent example of Finnish architecture

The Helsinki Cathedral overlooks the National library and Senate Square and is probably the main tourist attraction in Helsinki.
The large white cathedral looks very grand. It is free to enter.
The inside of the cathedral is rather plain compared to most others, so can be underwhelming. It was built between 1830 and 1852.It is in the shape of a Greek cross with a colonnade on each arm. Look up and see the twelve apostles on the edge of the roof. Inside the cathedral, there are statues of reformers, Martin Luther, Philipp Melanchthon and Mikael Agricola .Overall though a must visit, and probably your first place to visit, on any trip to Helsinki.

Interesting place with food and craft vendors set up throughout. Probably would have been more interested if I was not flying out that day and had room in my luggage for food. They have free public restrooms too - so that is a bonus. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the Helsinki Harbor area.

We followed the snaking trail of tourists up the steps and into the church. As it was rather busy we took a quick look at the ornate interior and departed but not before spotting a man wearing an All The Stations hoodie!

Spent a great day on the island and at the open-air museum. We went on a Sunday, so we expected it to be quite crowded, but in the morning it wasn't too full.
Very interesting collection of traditional wooden houses.
There are many squirrels on the island, but we managed to see only one.
If we visit again we're going to bring our own lunch as we found it difficult to find an open cafe.

We purchased an HSL card at the airport to take the train and tram to our hotel near the Marina. You can buy one or multiple days (up to 11) at any iKioski. The pass is good for 24 hours or more days from the time of purchase. There are three areas ABC. The pass was good for train, metro, tram, bus, and ferry. With the tram covering most of the City and with multiple trams per hour, it was the best way to get around. And very affordable. You can see many of the sites (but do visit and explore) right from your window. The ride is smooth, quiet and not so fast you cannot enjoy the passing scenes. You get a real feel for the city from the comfort of a forward facing window seat.

Came to Helsinki on a business trip and had a free afternoon to walk around the town. This was a lovely chapel to go to - interesting architecture. It was nice to see the tourists respecting the "silence" aspect of it. I sat in here for about half hr just enjoying the peace and quiet.

My first time in this building. The building itself was stylish and the art exhibition of Eero Järnefelt was amazing with lots of paintings and what a quality! I'm not an art lover, but these paintings made a big impression on me.
