The success of Invincible has put any talk of superhero fatigue to bed, and fans everywhere eagerly await the Invincible season 3 release date.

The critically acclaimed series first hit our screens in March 2021, and fans waited a long 19 months from the final episode of season 1 before season 2 launched.

So, will viewers have to wait that long for season 3? Well, maybe not…

Invincible Season 3 Release Date Predictions

Right now, Amazon has not announced an official Invincible season 3 release date, but a few factors suggest the wait for the next episode may be shorter than feared.

The delay between season 1 and season 2 partially resulted from rebuilding after the pandemic and the impact of the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike and the SAG-AFTRA strike.

With those events firmly in the rearview mirror, the production team shouldn’t face too many delays.

Another boost for season 3 is that following season 1, the show was renewed for both seasons 2 and 3, so development of the upcoming episodes has already begun.

Because of this, fans should anticipate season 3 of Invincible to arrive around November 2024 or March 2025.

Potential Issues

One issue that may delay Invincible season 3 was highlighted in season 2. In episode 7 Mark gets his Seance Dog comic signed by the creator Filip Schaff, who explains that animation takes a LONG time to get right. This was an in-joke for fans that had questioned the delays to season 2, but it holds for the show generally.

Animation, especially of the fast-paced fight scenes that fill Invincible, takes an age to produce to the high standard fans demand. If there are any delays to season 3 it will likely stem from the animation process.

Another issue could be voice actor availability.

The Invincible season 3 cast is huge, and its core actors are in high demand elsewhere. JK Simmons (Nolan Grayson), Sandra Oh (Debbie Grayson), Steven Yeun (Mark Grayson), Walton Goggins (Cecil), and Gillian Jacobs (Eve) juggle multiple projects beyond Invincible.

Re-recording voice lines to sync them with animation takes a lot of time, so any requirement for this process and subsequent wait for talent availability will impact the Invincible season 3 release date.

Invincible Season 3 story

So we have a window when fans can expect the series to return, but what should they expect to see?

Multiple threads from the end of season 2 should continue, with Mark on earth weighing up the morals of killing and what to do about his romantic life.

Mark’s half-brother Oliver will grow at a rapid rate and potentially come into his powers, while Allen & Nolan continue to plot their escape from the Viltrum prison and possible overthrow of the whole Viltrumite Empire.

As Invincible is adapted from a comic series, fans of the show can read ahead to see what will happen. While the show has deviated in some aspects from its source material, the foundation is there to see what is going on.
