Richard "Richie" A. Simons, age 79, of West Hartford, died peacefully with family by his side, Thursday, December 10, 2020. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Evie (Kohn) Simons. Born in New Haven, he was the son of Joseph and Lenore Simons. For twenty-five years, he owned and operated the Simons Restaurant Equipment Company in East Hartford. He was a long-time active member of the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford and had been honored as the Minyonaire of the Year for his attendance and spirit. He and Evie loved travelling with his children on many cruises and spending winters together in Florida. Richie always made people laugh and loved to joke with them. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Richie was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle. Besides his wife Evie, he is survived by his daughter Michele Simons and son Jeff Simons, cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Brandice, two brothers, Bruce and David Simons and many dear friends. A funeral with full military honors, will be private, Monday, December 14, at the Emanuel Cemetery in Wethersfield with Rabbi David Small officiating. The family will observe a private period of mourning. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of West Hartford Health and Rehab Center and extends a special thank you to Debbie Marshall, APRN, she was wonderful. Donations in his memory may be made to the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford. Richie will be forever in our hearts. Funeral arrangements provided by Hebrew Funeral Association, West Hartford.
