Could Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk qualify for a TW? I'd love to see Todd get into post-rock.

Train Wreckords

They may also be eligible for a OHW depending. I am unsure if Talk Talk had another top 40 hit in America outside of "It's my life" though I know they were certainly more popular in the UK. Perhaps TW would be the better format to discuss Spirit Of Eden specifically, as it is an album that made sure Talk Talk would drop off the pop charts forever. This album did, of course, spark the post-rock movement, but even if no other bands were inspired by this album, it would still be a monumental acvheivement in my opinon. It is perhaps New Wave's answer to Jazz's a Love Supreme.

That video would also be a nightmare to edit as Talk Talk never played any music from their last two albums live as they had the kind of songs that could only ever exist in the album format. There was only ever one music video for "I believe in you". Even just playing audio of the songs would be difficult because what makes the song so iconic is how the atmosphere and dynamics of the songs slowly change over time.

So while I believe, in a technical sense, it is possible for Todd to talk about Talk Talk in TW, I struggle to imagine how he would do it. What are your thoughts?

You do realise the series is about albums that destroyed an artists legacy right? There has never been an album featured in the series that helped the bands legacy.

If we’re trying to find a technicality to argue that a band pivoting into making two of the most influential, beloved, and critically acclaimed albums of all time is a ‘career ending move’ what are we even doing here.

Fuck no.

You have to have a certain level of audacity to even think that Spirit of Eden, let alone any Talk Talk album, is anywhere near being a trainwreckord.

I am very happy that requests for Talk Talk are ramping up on this sub recently

At what point did we forget that Trainwreckords is supposed to be a series about BAD albums?
