why didn't the ikettes tour with zappa ?

damn them live performances from the over-nite sensation era are missing them funky soulsista sounds which are so important to the album itself.

Because the Ikettes belonged to Ike Turner. Ike allowed the Ikettes to work for Frank at a paultry daily rate. Frank went against Ike's wishes and paid them the agreed upon rate but per hour.

I've seen the invoice (Google it). iirc Tina made $150 a day for her time and talent, which was a handsome sum in that day.

I read somewhere that Ike heard some of the playback from Over-Nite Sensation and said, "what is this shit?"

Because their abusive "owner" wouldn't let them out of his sight

Ike was so upset about what Tina was singing that he forbade her from even being credited on the album, and did not want her to be paid. Why would he allow an Ikettes tour?

Without knowing anything, it’s usually best to blame Ike Turner

As with Chuck Berry, it’s such a shame that one of the most important, lynchpin figures in the history of rock music was also an irredeemably appalling shithead.

Everyone is going on about Ike but the reality is they didn't need to tour for Frank.

It’s a miracle they were even allowed to be on the record at all
