This has always been a dream destination after visiting the Chedi Andermatt. We arrived to what I would call a friendly but not overly warm welcome and having come from Alila in the mountains the overall hospitality feeling was a little colder. The welcome drink was delicious and we were promptly shown to our club room with terrace. The room was exceptionally clean if a little small. Nicely decorated but really designed for tall people as the coffee machine was quite high and I really struggled to reach the bath towels in the shower! The biggest disappointment was the ‘terrace’! You pretty much have to climb out of the window to reach it - very strange arrangement! I paid nearly £200 extra a night for this terrace and it really was quite small and not readily accessible. I love an outside space when on holiday unless a big city so was prepared to pay for it but highly disappointed with cost for this.
The hotel itself is truly stunning in design and beautifully maintained just walking around the grounds you are in awe of its beauty and definitely have a zen feeling. The pools are stunning and wonderful comfortable beds beside which are serviced by very friendly and helpful staff. Brian was a really great guy!
We decided to check out the club lounge in preparation for the evening drinks and canapés and we’re looking around when the server asked us our room number- we told him and he said’ oh no you’re not allowed in here that room isn’t included’. We were shocked and a little embarrassed and said we were told at check in that this is part of our package and he said no it’s only for the suites. We challenged again and he went away and called reception then returned to assure us we were included after all and excused himself by saying sometimes your room is given to people who are upgraded but not to include the club room facilities. Whatever this is poor service for a 5 star hotel who was hardly busy at the time. We left both very embarrassed and annoyed! Everything was fine after that except for the exceptional circumstances with the lockdown so after day 2 the club had to be closed and rely on room service which wasn’t ideal on the first evening but by night 2 improved.
We didn’t really get to test the restaurants due to lockdown so hesitant to comment on food as by choice we never choose room service but totally appreciate why this had to happen.
As per other comments the beach is not desirable- it is an unfortunate location I think the hotel did its best to keep it clean but the mass of seagulls and generally unappealing sea encourages you to stay by the pools but the pools definitely make up for it!
Most of the staff in the end were truly amazing and friendly and helpful and considering the circumstances were highly cheerful. The 2 concierges we dealt with were wonderful and staff at breakfast were excellent. The complimentary laundry was of the highest standard we have encountered. For me first impressions count very highly and with the situation at the club and seeing our rather expensive terrace I was initially quite disappointed but grew to love the place.

Dear CarolAstonUK, Thank you for taking your time to provide us with your experience at The Chedi Muscat. I am extremely apologetic for this unfavorable situation during your stay in particular about the club lounge access. First of all, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have to personally discuss with the team to ensure a clear information should be provided to the guest accordingly and to avoid the recurrence. Secondly, I would like to apologize for the urgent closure of the club lounge due to the alarming pandemic. We have to adhere to the rules of the local authority and thus provide the room service menu only. I highly appreciate your understanding and thank you for your kind words about our staff. I will certainly extend your compliments to Brian and the concierge team for their excellent service. Wishing you well and safe in this pandemic and I look forward to your next visit at The Chedi Muscat. Kind regards, Morton Johnston

Chose the Chedi on recommendation of some friends. Can’t speak highly enough of every single member of staff from the pool guys refilling water to the people in the restaurants and bars, not to mention ground staff keeping the whole hotel looking impeccable. Gym and pool facilities excellent, spa treatment divine (according to my wife) and every meal was top drawer. I will say that food and drink was a little expensive but for a 5* resort and more importantly 5* people, it’s worth it. Special mention to Naresh, Kishore, Sumbha, Davaylan and Jennie.

I'd wanted to stay at the Chedi for years after hearing about it from friends and was not disappointed when we finally got there last week, after a fortnight touring Sri Lanka and in need of quiet relaxation. From the moment you alight from your car to a warm but not obsequious welcome, to the time when you turn out your light you are looked after in a quiet, unobtrusive, classy way. The hotel is stylish, uncluttered, open and airy with a range of places to sit quietly, read, sunbathe, eat and just enjoy being away from the realities of modern life. The staff are at great pains to ensure that your every wish is met, but not in that rather overdone crawly way which can be a bit jarring. The breakfasts were just splendid, the Japanese restaurant by the Long Pool was great one evening, as was the buffet meal another. A particular waiter, Om, learning of my health condition and dietary constraints took it upon himself to ensure that at every meal when he was on duty I had all I needed, offering to have special dishes made without spices and other verboten ingredients, if required. The hotel was far from full and so we had one of three pools virtually to ourselves most days. I had to be dragged away at the end of our four days and would return like a shot if I could.....

With pandemic driving the cost of hotel stay down, we have been hotel shopping. Chedi is offering the one of the best value for the buck. The offer includes Room with Breakfast, Dinner and an hour of Balinese Massage for two. As Muscat resident, we know that the cost of the massage alone will do justice for the money spent let alone the 5-star amenities that they offer.

The new decision to close beaches and parks, drives us away from getting in touch with nature. The manicured courtyard is home to different kinds of birds, a remarkable experience on a morning stroll. The special moment was the couple treatment at The SPA, the best Balinese Massage in Muscat.

We would like to thank Sharon from The SPA and Subash from The Restaurant for taking care of us during our stay, truly unforgettable experience.

We were fortunate to stay 4 nights at this amazing hotel and our stay was simply extraordinary.

The hotel is located at a private beach with various rooms across a large and well maintained property. Also some of the major sites like the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque are very close by.

The outdoor area was so beautiful and perfectly well looked after. All of the 3 pools were relaxing, the pool staff was very attentive and you got fresh water with lemon at all times. The comfortable sunbeds were provided with big towels and you could always find a free spot somewhere around the beautifully maintained outdoor area - either by the pool, in the gardens or on the beach.

The waiters across the entire hotel were super friendly as well as all the other staff, be it gardeners, housekeeping or receptionists.

We had a Balinese couple massage which was totally worth it. The ladies have done a great job, the room looked clean and hygienic and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

If you are here on a Friday you should definetly go for the Friday brunch. It was some of the best food and variety we ever had - from Wagyu steak to Indian street food, Omani seafood and incredibly tasty deserts. The quality was extraordinary.

Overall this hotel really lives up to its expectations. We can only recommend a stay here if you are in Muscat.

The Chedi Muscat is conveniently located, close to the airport as well as to the most important sites that Muscat has to offer.

This is probably the most stunning hotel I have ever stayed at. From an architectural and landscaping point of view, it is an absolute masterpiece. It reminds me of the Alhambra in Granada. It reflects the local culture, is extremely understated while being elegant and comfortable at the same time.

The hotel offers and myriad of choices in terms of food and beverage. The breakfast buffet offers a very large selection and hot dishes are served à la carte. There are six different restaurants to choose from for your other meals. In the evening there are candles everywhere and the atmosphere in the entire resort is quiet and romantic. In terms of food, you can have anything from sushi to seafood to arabic mezze. The quality is superb.

The hotel also offers 3 pools, a private beach and a fantastic spa. I had 2 treatments that were both top notch.

However, what makes this hotel stand out even more is the friendly, helpful and efficient staff. They all go out of their way to make guests happy and feel at home.

I can recommend booking a club room as it offers you a whole list of benefits from snacks and cocktails in the club lounge to free laundry, airport transfers and many more.

If you are a discerning traveler looking for a unique experience, then book this hotel. It’s certainly the best in Muscat if not in the entire region.

Kudos to General Manager Morton Johnston and his team for making the Chedi Muscat heaven on earth!

I will definitely be back!

We visited The Chedi as our long overdue honeymoon, and had a fantastic experience. We stayed a week which I think is long enough to have a few days doing excursions but also to have a few days to just relax by the pools and the beach as well. The staff are really great, what's nice is that they all are really friendly but also have personality as well, you can have a nice chat with them. I would recommend booking half board, Oman is a strong currency so meals can be expensive, the food at each of the restaurants was great, particularly great sushi at the beach restaurant and Long Pool Restaurant. In addition we loved the main restaurant with a wide selection of courses and cuisines. One of the reasons I loved my time at The Chedi was the grounds, they are absolutely beautiful, with a tip to Omani culture as well with the little rivers that run through the grounds, in addition everything was well maintained. Further to this, you never feel like the hotel is overly busy, we were told that it was fully booked, but it never felt that busy. Also The Chedi has 3 absolutely gorgeous pools, the Long Pool being a favourite. We stayed in a deluxe room which was generous in size, the rooms were cleaned everyday and minibar refilled as well on a daily basis, If stayed again, I would stay in a similar size/type room. Muscat is a wonderful city as well, all in all a magical stay, thank you Team Chedi Muscat.

Perfect as usual. Stunning views, cleanliness was above and beyond, staff are very attentive to the little things and the breakfast served in the room was not disappointing which was surprising as most hotels have been slacking. I just love staying here. It is an oasis in stressful times and I am always welcomed back with a smile and a perfectly, quiet and relaxing stay!

Stayed here recently and whilst hotel is nice and some staff very good, especially Sira in Restaurant this hotel is nowhere near a leading hotel in world. We had problems with booking in, hotel never gets back to you and say they are busy but they are not and that's no excuse anyway but I can now see why they are not busy. We were then told when we booked in that they didn't do Covid tests at hotel ( most good hotels do let alone supposed luxury hotels). I was told I had to go to hospital in Muscat. I checked this again in hotel and phoned again when my wife and I were in Muscat so I knew which hospital to go to. In the end I spent £100 in taxis plus cost of tests to go to Mucast hospital only then to learn they did them in hotel yet after asking 4 times I was told they didn't. During our stay, on first day our room wasn't cleaned by 3.00pm in the afternoon I had to ask for it to be done and was told they would do it later. We paid extra (nearly £600 per night) for a club room, only to find out that the club room wasn't open, which we weren't told about, what a waste of money ! Then on our final day we came to adult pool but no umbrellas as they had been moved to another pool and they didn't have enough for adult pool, what a joke ! Is this a Leading Hotel in the World. No chance, we are from Dubai and wouldn't even qualify as a 3 star there. If staying in Muscat go somewhere else.

My wife and I have just had a mini "staycation" at The Chedi - Muscat. I would thoroughly recommend and encourage all those seeking a respite away from the current pandemic to do the same. It has been a number of years since we first stayed at the hotel, yet the timeless elegance of the buildings and grounds sets this hotel in a class of its own within Muscat. We stayed in a club suite, within the landscaped gardens, which was extremely spacious and very well appointed, the bed was so very comfortable.
There are manicured landscaped gardens, perfectly presented rooms and a selection of pools to relax around, together with a heavenly spa. The F&B on offer, under Deepak and his team, produces absolutely exquisite food throughout the day. Breakfast is a mixture of at table service and buffet, whilst lunch and diner are table service. The selection available caters for all tastes and is presented perfectly and tastes divine. For those wanting wine etc, the selection is very good and fairly priced.
The hotel management and staff are excellent, they are presenting the hotel in the best way possible during the pandemic and are dealing with covid in a very thorough manner.
We have come away from our mini break feeling totally refreshed and recharged......we will certainly stay again! I would encourage all those thinking of a vacation/staycation in Muscat to place "The Chedi" at the top of their wish list.
