Detailed Reviews
This hotel was in a prime location, in the heart of Little Tokyo. Lots to do without driving anywhere, plenty of places to eat and shop. The hotel was really nice, and not terribly pricey. They also offer a discount if you are a AAA member. No complaints, would definitely stay here again. Also, the cookies they give you at check in are delicious!

I got the parking/breakfast/internet package and had 1st class service and accommodations. Only negative was the restaurant being closed, but the food menu in the lounge (and the food) solved that problem. A short walk to Superior Court solved the usual parking hassle.

+1
This place works well because of it's staff and management. Although we did not need much of the staffs help,we did witness how they would give full attention to all other patrons. It was my 1st time in the U.S.A so my 1st impressions of U.S hospitality was exceptional.
The restaurant a bit pricey for breaky so I suggest the $20 buffet because we paid around $30 for a very basic meal.(still good food)
LOCATION : Under $50 to taxi from the airport,$25 to Hollywood and Universal Studios. Staples Center just up the road and about $6 to Santee Alley. Restaurants in Little Tokyo were good for dinner budgets,eg $13 for big servings to feed 2 hungry Samoans at any Korean BBQ place.Spicy Crab around the corner and Starbucks down stairs.
Loved the bar as it was a trendy place to have drinks with the wife.
This hotel is trying it's best to become a great place to stay and you can see the potential and vision they're attempting to strive for. For it's great cheap rates then it deserves a 5 star rating.(Assuming the rates stay as they are) Well done Double tree.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights on a quick weekend trip. Check-in and arrival went smoothly. Room was what was expected from the booking website. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Decor was nice and the room was quiet. One of the first things that I always do is set the thermostat to a chilling 68 degrees. Did that and we threw our luggage down and went about our tourist duties around downtown L.A. Got back and went to sleep. Next morning when we arose from our slumber, I noticed that the thermostat was set to 68 but the room temperature was at a 75. Realizing that something was not functioning properly I called the front desk. They would send up a tech to work on the problem within a 15 min time frame. Well 30 mins went by and no tech. Called back down and they told me that the tech had been there but worked on it from the outside vent. Great problem fixed! After getting ready, I checked the thermostat again and the issue was still persistent. Called again to the front desk and they said the tech will come up again. At this point we need to be tourist and do some shopping, so we left for the day. On our arrival back at the room, the first thing we did was throw our bags down then check the temperature. Low and behold the problem was not fixed. Getting annoyed now I bypass the call to the front desk and go down the 7 floors to find out what is going on. The front desk apologized and I asked to have the problem fixed or move to another room. They were going to move me to another room. He said he would have the keys to the new room sent up in 15 mins. 30 mins roll on by and no keys. I go to make my second trip down. New person at the front desk. Tell her what is going on and ask for new room. Wait to get the keys and then I head back up. Pack, grumble, move to new room. New room was something else. Faint smell of urine greeted us as we walked into the room. Also the shape of the room was odd. It was a corner room and was very long and slender. Furniture looked odd as if the room was just thrown together as an afterthought. Not the greatest of rooms but the big question is does the air conditioner work. Yes it did.........but the vent was near the head of the bed and rattled pretty badly. At this point we just gave up since it was a brief stay. The two redeeming points of our visits were: 1. Location of the hotel is great. Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Olvera Street, and so much more are within walking distance. 2. The gentleman that checked us out gave us free parking for our stay. I am not the one to ask for free things or upgrades. It was nice when he asked about our stay and once hearing it gave us free parking. Overall: Great location, Poor customer service. Recommendation: Stay in another hotel in the area.

We did not feel safe walking in the downtown area. Loud sirens were going all night long. Extra costs for parking, internet, and service charges drove the price of our stay higher than we feel acceptable for the overnight rates we paid. Not a good value.

My stay on August 3rd and 4th was perfect. I was there for the HARD music festival and in the past I've stayed for one other HARD festival. I've also stayed for a concert at the Palladium in Hollywood and was pleasantly surprised at what a good location it turned out to be for that. I had also stayed for the Electric Daisy Carnival when the hotel was the Kyoto Grand and the rooms are a lot nicer now. The rooms are perfect in my opinion, I really love them a lot. Very modern and very clean. Housekeeping and the front desk are amazing. I've actually been a front desk agent in Las Vegas for the last three years so I understand how hotels are, how it can be when it's a busy weekend, and the hotel has always met the challenge. I will never stay anywhere else when I'm in L.A.

They were restorating hotel while we were staying. They didn't even told us before we came. Parking your car is really expensive. And smoking fee in the room is 200$. So there are better hotels to go for same price and better location.

Good location and good breakfast and internt package deal. Close to the market and Japanese food outlets. Walking distance from the transit. Inspite of being on the 2oth floor we could hear street noise.

All around great five-day hotel stay. My only apprehension was that the complementary Thursday grill was cancelled, without informing the guests. The grilling space was booked for another event. The great morning breakfasts more than compensated for the missed evening grill.
