Francis made his first start since April 7 and efficiently worked through four shutout frames, needing only 49 pitches to get it done. In his first two starts this season, he was tagged with 12 runs through just 8.1 innings. Sunday's outing was his second appearance since returning from the injured list due to a forearm issue. Francis lowered his ERA to 7.36 with a 22:8 K:BB through 22 innings this season. His next start is lined up to be at home against the Guardians.

Cabrera pitched the bottom of the 10th inning and let one run come home but still preserved the 6-4 win. It was his first save since the 2022 season when he was with St. Louis. Kiner-Falefa knocked a two-run single in the second inning before capping off his day with a clutch bases-clearing double in the 10th to help secure the win. After an ugly 0-for-20 skid in the middle of May, he's gone 22-for-64 (.344) over his last 18 games. That hot streak has boosted his season slash line to .275/.319/.394 with 26 RBI and 13 extra-base hits through 209 plate appearances.
Lukes was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday with a thumb injury, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The severity of the injury is unclear, but Lukes will be sidelined for at least the next week after he suffered the injury this weekend. The 28-year-old has a .333/.406/.480 slash line through 44 games for Buffalo this season.

Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Taking seat Sunday

It was the first shutout of Gausman's career, and the veteran right-hander was dominant all afternoon, firing 76 of 109 pitches for strikes while tying his season high in Ks. He's produced four quality starts in his last five trips to the mound, lowering his ERA on the season to 4.00 with a 1.25 WHIP and 69:16 K:BB through 69.2 innings. Gausman will look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Guardians.

Blue Jays' Alek Manoah: Set to undergo UCL surgery

Manager John Schneider said Friday that Manoah will undergo UCL surgery June 17, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Manoah left in the second inning of his last start May 29 against the White Sox, and he was placed on the injured list two days later with what was diagnosed as a right UCL sprain. Manoah began the season on the IL with right shoulder inflammation, and since returning May 5, he's posted a 1-2 record with a 3.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB over 24.1 innings. It's not clear whether Manoah will need Tommy John surgery or a brace repair, but either procedure would end the 26-year-old right-hander's 2024 season.
