We got into town after visiting hours but we were still able to enjoy the outdoor displays including the large artistic and heritage themed sculpture along the tracks adjacent to the Amtrak Depot. Well worth the stop to enjoy, read and take pix after dining at a nearby restaurant.

I stopped in because I couldn't figure out where to park for Clinton's Childhood Home (on West Division St opposite a brick home used as the entry point for guided tour). The sweetest lady greeted me and explained where to park. She invited me to look around the Visitor Center which I did. Many visitor centers are in a refurbished building as is this one, a converted train station, but this was not your typical Visitor Center with maps and pamphlets. This one had a lot of Clinton exhibits as well as a short film. I would recommend everyone to check out this place before touring his home.

TIP: The restaurant across the street, Tailgaters Burger Company, is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC if you're looking for a place to eat. Try the Boom Sauce, if hesitant, get it on the side.

Exhibits on the history of Hope, railroad industry, and President Clinton. Excellent stop on the way to visit President Clinton's boyhood home, which is a short walk down the street. Easily visited in less than one hour.

stepped in here looking for directions to Clinton birthplace. There are lots of pictures and Clinton memorabilia. The lady at the counter seemed very bored and was very talkative.

Hope, Arkansas originally had three Train Stations: Missouri Pacific, Frisco, and the Louisiana & Arkansas Railroads. Forty two freight trains roll through Hope and two passengers train daily. This is a working train station with a great museum. Plenty of artifacts and photographs with titles and a chronological history of Bill Clinton and his time in Hope. This is s must see museum.

This is a great little spot to stop and read about some history on the railroad. Plus the Amtrak railway service stops in the morning and night daily.

The former Missouri Pacific Railroad Station in Hope is now the Hope Visitor Center. It is open most days, even on Mondays, when quite a few museums are closed. Inside are many photos and exhibits. Most are about the years when Bill Clinton grew up here. His boyhood home, now a National Historic Site, is just a few blocks to the west on Hervey Street. A lot of the photos have been donated to the visitor center by local citizens. There are also photos of historic buildings in Hope, and some of the famous citizens, besides Bill Clinton, such as Mike Huckabee, who was Governor of Arkansas around 1995 to 2003. Mike was raised in the south part of Hempstead County, south of Hope. There are also railroad exhibits, conductor uniforms, etc., since the railroad created Hope when they built the tracks from Little Rock to Texarkana around 1873. Outside of the museum area, in another building to the west, is the Mack McLarty Conference Room, and the Amtrak station. Passenger trains did not stop in Hope after the 1960's until Amtrak recently decided to allow their train, The Texas Eagle, to do so. Mack McLarty is another prominent native of Hope. He was chairman of the Arkla Gas Company. He was friends with Bill Clinton as a boy, and was President Clinton's Chief of Staff at the White House in 1993. I learned he still maintains a home in Hope, although his main residence is in Little Rock.
Travelers on I - 30 should take the time to visit Hope and learn about its history. The William Jefferson Clinton National Historic Site is the number one site to see, but the Visitor Center at the Missouri Pacific RR Depot in the middle of downtown Hope should also be seen. They've put a lot of interesting information into a small space, and the elderly African American lady who is in charge of the museum is very knowledgeable about the history of Hope. She makes you feel welcome, and that she appreciates you took the time to stop and visit the town.

Cute little Visitors Center in the middle of Hope, next to the railroad tracks. They've got exhibits on Clinton and Huckabee and just about any place in Arkansas you might even think about visiting. Nice people too. We stopped in after Crater of Diamonds and on our way to our next stop, so we didn't stay long. Hope is a cute little town— too bad the famous people who came from there can't do a little more to help put it back on the map because it could be so much more.

Little museum at the railroad station. This poor town needs some Hope. Nice little spot to stop and get a little history.

I had a great time visiting this museum/visitor center. The history of small towns is a major interest of mine so I enjoyed all the early 1900's images and text. And it is in the Train Station with trains passing every few hours. Amtrak stop.
