Ron Burgundy loses a lot of his charm when everything he says sounds like a Trump tweet
The 'Snyder Cut' of the Anchorman universe sans slow-motion cuts. In other words, they took the cutting room floor footage, spliced in a handful of cuts from the original to make it make sense, and made a new movie. I'd be curious to know if they did re-shoots for this thing specifically or if it was all cutting room floor cuts. Fortunately this one began to be packaged with the original essentially as bonus footage instead of being advertised as a new product for $30 like the infamous Snyder Cut. Some of the material here is pretty funny, plus there's a more streamlined plot about a group of serial robbers that are terrorizing banks in the city that kind of…
Turns out that making a film solely made up of deleted scenes from an improv heavy comedy movie is a BAD idea.
Oh god, not another painful ‘comedy’. It’s a hodgepodge of outtakes and extra storylines from the first film, with no coherent plot holding it all together.
Some scenes here are better than anything from the original film. However, the whole "alarm clock" story was kind of lame. Still better than the panda story though. As a film made up of deleted scenes, this could have been much worse.
"Spiderman's balls that hurt!" - Ron
This "alternate film" companion to Anchorman (2004) was compiled from dropped subplots and alternate takes/deleted scenes. This is a pretty funny film - a little patchy in places and you can see why they picked the better scenes for the original but it's a perfectly fine time filler.
Ron Burgundy woke up, and delivered us something which while being funny, it doesn’t hold a candle to the original movie and is obviously cut content.
But Champ Kind is the greatest LGBTQ+ character in cinematic history, what an icon.

"Wake Up, Ron Burgundy" is the first movie I've seen that is an entirely new movie made using cut footage from an original movie, that being "Anchorman".
I have to say, for being all stuff left on the cutting room floor, it's not totally awful. It's pretty much the same as the original, but just not as professionally done. It's mostly all scenes with the main news crew, plus a criminal gang called "The Alarm Clocks". Ron and Veronica Corningstone don't have a full romance (that stuff must have been used up), so it goes straight from Veronica getting hired to Veronica hating Ron and his sexist ways.
If you liked "Anchorman", I'd wager you'll like this.
Well, that aged like milk... Turns out that unmoored absurdity is not that funny after all. It's 90 minutes in search of some laughs and only getting a few chuckles.
Man, that car scene was relentlessly funny. I think we didn't get enough Ron Burgundy...
