👋🏻
đź‘‹ Hi! Glad to see I'm not the only one that follows both the Trees and the Lanegan reddits.
I need this! Will it be coming to streaming platforms also?
Wrong Turn to Jahannam is on YouTube. So, it'll probably make its way there at least.
I waited outside in the cold & wind for close to 3½ hrs, made it to the front of the line, told the guy that the only thing I was looking for was the Screaming Trees release, he checks & apologies & says they're out, I thank him anyway (everyone in my local record shop was busting their hump to take care of all the customers), turn & leave, I made it about half a block down when all of a sudden I hear "HEY SCREAMING TREES GUY!!!" & the same employee is chasing me down! Somebody found one left & he booked it to catch me before I got too far! I thanked him profusely & felt like I won the lottery after the long, cold wait & initial letdown.
It's nice to have new Trees to listen to. I wonder if this'll be the last official release or how much more material GLC has hanging around yet...
Hell yeah!! That is awesome!
is it good?
Okay, since you asked, here is my review after my first listen.
First off, it is just awesome to hear 10 new-to-us tracks from the Screaming Trees. By now, I would have expected every song they ever played to have popped up somewhere. But this feels like an album that we all somehow just missed and stumbled across by accident.
What jumped out at me initially was that most of the songs sound like they came from the late 60s or early 70s. They have that kind of airy sound to them and are a little bit softer/slower. The bass and low end are clear and audible, but not very heavy or pronounced. There's an organ on When it Comes Around that is amazing and perfect and definitely lends to that 60s/70s feel.
Then, Next to Myself on Side A, has that unmistakable guitar sound from Invisible Lanterns. There were a couple of songs on side B that reminded me of Invisible Lanterns, actually. But if I didn't already know, I would have guessed this album was straight out of 1970.
Overall, Weird Things Happening is like opening a time capsule treasure chest. It's everything that you'd want and nothing that you'd expect. There are some echoes of the older Trees albums we all love, but this is in a league of its own. I love it! 10/10
cool
Unfortunately, I'll have to get back to you on that. I got a few other things to take care of today before I'll have time to actually listen to it. Based on how good Wrong Turn at Jahannam was, I have a pretty good feeling about this one, though. Gary Lee Conner posted one of the songs on his youtube channel if you want a preview.

Me me me
I did.
The leading groove on my copy doesn’t work on either side, and it skips a lot on side B. Was curious if anyone else had this issue or if I have a defective copy
No issues with mine. Try hitting up the record store where you got it as soon as you can. If it's defective, they might switch it out if they have any other copies left.
Me! Through Rough Trade’s online store otherwise there was no way to get it in Italy. I’m so glad I found a copy, now I have to patiently wait for delivery
I did!
