Earl Barret was a writer on Bewitched. He wrote three episodes for the series (1965-1967).
Biography[]
Earl Barret was born on October 17, 1932, in Canton, Ohio, and moved west to California with his family as a child. He grew up in Hollywood where he eventually became a freelance television comedy writer.
He is known primarily as a television writer and producer although he has written both plays and screenplays. "Eden Was on a Hollywood Hill" (2010) is his first book. It is a memoir about his parents' pursuit of the American Dream.
As a freelance writer Barret wrote for some of television's most iconic comedies: Bewitched, My Three Sons, Get Smart, Batman, Sanford and Son, Bob Newhart, I Spy, The Wild, Wild West, The Andy Griffith Show, Welcome Back Kotter, etcetera. Then Barret became story editor for The Governor and JJ. He and the producer, Arne Sultan, wrote nineteen episodes and eventually became writing partners. Barret produced the next couple of shows they did, and finally they both were the Executive Producers of Too Close for Comfort which they developed for American television. In all, Barret wrote episodes for thirty-three different television shows.
He did several movies for television as well as the feature film "See No Evil, Hear No Evil". "It's Not Easy to Unfuck Things Up" (2012) is his debut novel.
