Editorial Reviews
Review
"Cameron’s lovely prose is grounded in a keen awareness of her inner and outer worlds, which are described so vividly that the reader comes to feel like one of her many 'intimates.' Artists and others looking to tap into their intuition will find plenty of wisdom here." ―Publishers Weekly
"Sometimes, when we feel stuck or afraid, we look to others for guidance. In Living the Artist's Way Julia Cameron shows us that the guidance we seek actually comes from somewhere deep within and is available at any time. This wise and encouraging book is a series of invitations to connection, creative confidence and commitment to the writing path. Accept those invitations and a whole world will open up for you." ―Beth Kempton, bestselling author of Wabi Sabi

July 1995: My late wife buys me THE ARTIST'S WAY
August 1995: I start doing the morning pages.
October 1995: I stop gambling.
November 1995: I stop drinking
December 1995: I start writing what would be my first novel.
It's 28+ years later. I have written 10 books. And I still do the morning pages every day. But I am in the hallway creatively and spiritually. And of course, here comes this book Saturday. Suddenly, I feel like I have a shot. Let's see if someone else's work can change a life twice....
One reason I like Cameron's teaching is her belief in higher forces that can provide guidance. Her method is not restricted to a certain religious discipline but can be used by people of any faith.
As is her habit of late, Cameron lets us look into her own life and the lives of others as to how writing for guidance plays out. She also gives exercises such as questions to ask to set off the writing experience. She stimulates us to write about concerns we have, decisions we need to make, areas where we need more information, and more.
Cameron has given us many tools over the years: Morning Pages, Artist's Dates, Walks, and now Writing for Guidance. I, like many others, have found great benefit in following these practices and recommend her latest book to continue the writing experiences. Try it out by writing on “I wish I could...”
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
I enjoyed this book. I had figured out years ago that many questions get answered and dilemmas solved while writing my Morning Pages, so this book was quite affirming. The book has helped me be more intentional about listening to divine guidance while journaling. Much appreciated!
