I really enjoyed doing my first two years of college here, I think the online program worked well for me and was very flexible with my schedule.
Thankful for the Guardian Scholars and EOPS staffs at GWC! They help guide me to the right path! I was nervous of returning to school after a 7 year break, but I’m glad I made the decision to do so!
Its a lovely school where you can tell the professors do care for you and your education. Many potential activities and clubs you can join. I was first very worried to go to the new environment and meet new people. The first experience that I had at Golden West College was at the orientation for new students.

I was first very worried to go to the new environment and meet new people. The first experience that I had at Golden West College was at the orientation for new students. Every staff were very friendly and kind, and the school also organized all the activities in a very logical way. After spending one semester at Golden West College, I feel extremely happy that I chose this school to study. All of my teachers were wonderful, they were all willing to help me anytime. As an international student, I was struggling with language barrier but everyone at Golden West College were all patient and kind to me, which made me feel like it was my second home.
I have enjoyed the experience and enjoyed the professors. Some of my classes have an unreasonable workload but overall, it has been the best way to complete my credits.
Golden West has an amazing staff making everyone feel welcome. The education is top tier and is very affordable. With being a California student Golden West provides a promise program where you receive free school along with 700 dollar stipend. Over all Golden West is an amazing school to apply to.
After announcing that I was going to attend Golden West College, I was shown contempt from my peers and teachers. I felt less than those who were admitted to universities and Cal-states. Even my teachers commented that it was if I was striving for less. However after disregarding their poor regards and attending Golden West College, I realized that I am gaining more than those who are attending the universities and Cal-states. It is my opinion that the professors are extremely corresponsive when it comes to helping those who need the extra help. In every single class that I was apart of, the professor would go out of their way to make sure students learn and understand the material. I believe that the goal of every professor, who teaches at Golden West College, is to make sure their students is well-prepared for their future.
Their Veterans Resource Center is amazing and they campus really does its best to help students with additional resources and program applications. As a Nursing student, money is really tight and all the support I get on Campus and with their help in applying for Scholarships, Student aid programs (ex: Veteran's benefits, CalFresh), and on Campus resources like Chrome Book loans and the food pantry/The Stand are of a huge help to me.
I have had a good experience with Golden West College already, the teachers are very helpful when it comes to a student wanting help with work or understanding certain topics. The admissions team are quick at getting things sorted too.
I am a second-year student and since I have been at Golden West I have learned a lot about my first year. The majority of the professors take the time to help students. I use the academic success center for tutoring and writing assistance and the best part it's free for students. The campus is quiet and sometimes busy which is nice to study. There are multiple resources to help and I encourage you to take advantage of them to be successful in your class. I have taken in-person, online classes, and hybrid classes and most of them were general education requirements. Most professors are understanding and will help you pass the class.
All of the counselors are amazing. The counselor that I spoke with laid out an entire plan for my future semesters in order to transfer to a 4-year university. I also decided to go back and continue my education at Golden West while ago attending my 4-year university. They give you all the resources you need to succeed!
Faculty and staff at GWC were always enthusiastic and helpful every time I had a question. You can tell the counselors cared about providing the most accurate information as possible in order better help you succeed. I am the type of person who always needed clarification and I'm glad to say they were great with clarifying anything for me. Professors always replied to emails quickly on canvas and had tutoring hours/ office hours to help students that had any kind of trouble. I never had an issue with GWC.
I enjoy the freedom and flexibility that the school offers with its online courses. They are typically either asynchronous or meet online via Zoom, but nevertheless, they provide proper education despite being fully online.
Most professors were kind and cared for their students, constantly sending announcements checking up with the class about new concepts that we learned. What I liked was that many offered lectures, slides, and office hours to help students learn the material and concepts and even offered to provide one-on-one session if students needed them. What I would like to see be changed is how we can get in touch with our peers. Besides meeting in-person, it is quite difficult to communicate and work with our peers through discussions and emails.
I loved the campus and all of the staff members I came in contact with. I am so glad i got a chance to play volleyball all three years that i was there.
Teachers and administration were very supportive. If there were every any issues, the front office was also always very easy to reach. Plenty of online and in person options available.
