Welcome back, Wisconsin! That '90s Show part 2 premieres in June 2024

Prepare to pack your bags and spend the summer in Point Place, Wisconsin. Netflix has officially confirmed that the second season of That '90s Show — now split into two parts known as part 2 and part 3 — will make its debut with eight episodes arriving on June 27, 2024. The fun kicks off this summer, with the second half of the 16-episode order dropping in the fall on Oct. 24.

The streamer made the announcement of the That '90s Show part 2 and part 3 release dates in May 2024 in tandem with the Netflix Is A Joke Fest, when a generous handful of other movies and series were also teased. Thankfully, the That '70s Show spinoff series made the cut for release this year, as a handful of fan-favorite shows ended up pushed for release in 2025.

That '90s Show first premiered on Netflix in January 2023 and landed a renewal for a second season the following month. The renewal was good news in and of itself, but Netflix ordered six extra episodes for season 2, bringing the season's episode count to 16 episodes.

Part 2 synopsis, cast, and teaser

When we last left Leia in That '90s Show, she found herself in a romantic pickle between Kelso and Jackie's son son Jay Kelso and her best friend and neighbor's half-brother Nate. She left Point Place to go home to Chicago for the school with the promise to return the following summer, and she will definitely have quite the mess to clean up when she gets back to Red and Kitty's house. Who else can't wait to see the state of this friend group in part 2?

Here's the part 2 synopsis via Netflix:

"It’s 1996 and Leia Forman is back in Point Place for another summer of fun with her friends and grandparents, Kitty and Red. Leia and Jay are excited to be together again after nine months of long distance. But she’s on edge since Jay still doesn’t know she almost kissed Nate. Nate is concerned that his girlfriend, Nikki, doesn’t know either. How long can they keep this secret? Turns out, not long at all. And when the truth finally comes out, relationships are threatened, friendships are at stake, and the summer is on the verge of ending before it even gets started."

Clearly, Leia will be navigating a sticky situation upon her retire to her father's childhood home for the summer. Inevitably, as teased by the synopsis, the truth with come out and likely impact her Point Place friend group. But no matter what, Leia will surely have plenty of support from her grandparents, who clearly love her unconditionally. Along with the release dates, Netflix also unveiled the first teaser for part 2, in which Red and Kitty fight to hug their granddaughter first.

All of the main cast members will be back for part 2 (and likely part 3), and Netflix also confirmed a number of new guest stars. Here's a refresher on who's who in That '90s Show before part 2:

Don Stark and Andrea Anders will return in their roles as Bob Pinciotti and Sherri Ruck respectively, and Netflix also announced Will Forte, Seth Green, Lisa Loeb, Carmen Electra, Wayne Knight, Kevin Smith, Tommy Chong, Jason Mewes, Matt Rife, and Kadeem Hardison will all be making guest appearances throughout the eight episodes of part 2.

In the first season, That '90s Show featured guest appearances from each of the main That '70s Show cast members: Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Wilmer Valderrama. Prepon and Valderrama each appeared in multiple episodes. Prepon has been confirmed to appear in part 2, though Kunis revealed she and Kutcher wouldn't be back. Grace hasn't been confirmed to return just yet.

Honestly, the spinoff really doesn't need any cameos from the original sitcom's cast anymore. By the end of the season, the new cast of teens had bonded and formed a chemistry that will likely see them soar in season 2. Hopefully, the second season takes advantage of the strengths of its main cast and doesn't rely too, too much on the nostalgia factor of its sire series.
