Whately Hall Hotel

Hotel location excellent adjacent to Banbury Cross. We went on a 2 night Travel Zoo deal so good VFM, food plentiful, staff friendly and obliging room OK, good sized car park. There's enough to see in Banbury eg. Canal basin, museum and Parsons Street right on doorstep. Sadly the rest of town like so many places in UK (incl. my own home town) is in decline physically, socially and morally that's progress I guess, but that's no fault of the hotel! The old part of the hotel would have been a grand place in its day and the breakfast room overlooking the garden is lovely as is the garden itself. Weather permitting one could potentially do the "old town" and then stay in the gardens without needing the car whatsoever it's all nice enough! Negatives? Table service rather slow (but for once we weren't in a rush so just relaxed). The rest of the hotel is showing signs of needing a refurb but I do wonder (in this age) just who is going to invest the kind of £'s to bring it back to its glory? Personally I've been happy with my visit here and the TZ deal we purchased. May 25th 2024

We had an excellent evening meal at The Greyhound. The waitresses were very professional but friendly and the food was delicious. The pub is situated in a beautiful area and the dining area is tastefully decorated.

We are currently still staying at the hotel and living our room 241 which we upgraded to and so well worth it we have a lake view .
Superking so comfortable bed .
I haves left a star form review as dinner was disappointing last evening in the dining room as there were a number of dishes not available on the menu.
That said I have read that breakfast wasn’t too good but I have to say I totally disagree it was excellent good really well - It’s self service all cooked really well.
We booked a 2 Night Travel Zoo offer but we have just paid extra for a further nights stay !
Staff all nice and helpful.
Think that says it all and I’m a fussy guest when I have to be

Great visit to Winterbourne house and gardens

We booked to go to Winterbourne house and gardens. It was a wonderful day with really lovely gardens, a proper oasis in the city.
The cafe had a terrace which was very pretty and the food was good.
I booked through Travelzoo and it was easy to do. I would recommend this visit and we will be returning.

Stanton House Hotel

Good location, quiet, set in a country park. Ample car parking. Hotel was clean and well decorated throughout.
Double room was very small with barely 18 inches between the double bed and the walls. Furniture was basic and had been repaired unprofessionally. Bathroom was spacious and the extra space in here would have been better utilised in the bedroom.
We had dinner in the Cedar restaurant on our first night. Service was slow, staff all seemed to be trainees. Food was very good when it eventually arrived. No one checked if the food was ok. We had to ask for a fork to go with the spoon for dessert. The waitress seemed surprised that anyone would want a fork and delivered it without using a serviette to hold it. All staff didn't seem to have pride in the service they provided and there was no friendly smiles or conversation when attending the tables.

Breakfast was a similar experience as far as staff service was concerned.
A hot breakfast buffet was provided but there were no hot plates. Both mornings I had wait for eggs to arrive. Other items such as fruit and pastries regularly ran out and no one seemed to be checking the supply. Tables were not set with cutlery or napkins.

The decor of the restaurant was very good.

The lack of friendly and attentive staff did not reflect the 4 star rating the hotel boasted. If it wasn't for it's good location then our stay here would have been a bad experience.

The meal was not up to our expectations

The meal was not up to our expectations. I like to have a hot meal but this was lukewarm. We ordered a first course of veloute and this was served with great ceremony by several waiting staff. However it turned out to be a tiny portion in a small opening in the centre of a large round plate. Barely a few mouthfuls. The bread which we had to pay for was advertised as sourdough but I could not find any trace of a sourdough taste.
The roast potatoes were over greasy and unpleasant and the vegetable portions were not very generous. I had to wait a long time to wait for the card machine when settling my bill while the waiter attended to other guests.

Dinner at Remmington's Niagara

We enjoyed our dinner at Remmington's in Niagara Falls. The food was great and the atmosphere was amazing. Service was very good. Our only issue was when we received our bill there was an extra $ 6.00 and our waitor told us the $109.00 did not cover the meal.
We ordered exactly what was on the offer.

Superb old Cotswold coaching house .Warm welcome from Alina and her friendly team .Right in the middle of Woodstock such a beautiful little town where you can walk into the grounds of Blenheim Palace and walk for miles in beautiful scenery.
Cream tea was lovely and breakfasts to die for free parking in the courtyard .
Nothing too much trouble our little dog Freddy was thoroughly spoilt .
Very spacious room and bathroom.
Very highly recommended 👌

Good trip out

We always treat our trips as a new adventure, whether they are excellent or disappointing. Travel zoo always offer good value for money. Lovely hotel in fantastic setting opposite the Minster. Could people watch all day! Nice meal, although we wouldn't have paid the full price, and watch out for supplements! Had to pay an extra £5 each for a simple cheeseboard and the bar was expensive.

Lovely experience.

The hotel looks as though it’s been recently refurbished, very tastefully. Check in was very welcoming. The evening meal was great but being gluten intolerant there wasn’t any gluten free desserts. But at breakfast, being coeliac I was in my element, perfect for me in every way. The room was clean and decorated nicely with a lovely bathroom. I certainly will be looking at this hotel again as we try to keep taking advantage of our National Trust membership.

Birthday Treat for Mum

Spent a wonderful afternoon at The Devonshire Fell. It was everything as advertised. Situated in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside with the most beautiful picturesque views. We were shown to a lovely bright, airy dining room where we had a delicious Afternoon Tea (which met all our expectations) overlooking the views. The staff were friendly and the day was totally relaxing.

Hotel was 3 star

Hotel was 3 star, reception check in was smooth, reception attendant (I think his name was Peter) was very helpful. Breakfast had a good selection. Allocated room was tiny, but had a glimpse of sea from the window, which was very dirty. For one night it was manageable, bed was comfortable and clean, newly fitted bathroom. In the room one can hear everyone walking pass, guest moving in their room. For hotel it self, old carpets and need to pay attention on cleanliness, specially on the cobwebs. Overall for one night experience, it was OK.
